Hello,
My friend.
Thank you so much for joining me today.
And thank yourself for taking this important time for yourself.
This is Teresa Destrovec.
If you haven't already,
I invite you to find a comfortable seated position so that you can fully engage in this guided practice.
Ideally,
Your back should be supported and your head is free,
While your feet and your bum are rooted firmly and connected to the earth.
Once you've found this position,
I invite you to take a few slow,
Deep breaths,
Allowing your lungs and belly to fill up,
And then slowly exhaling for a little bit longer than comfortable.
Now that you've taken some nice,
Long,
Deep breaths,
I invite you to relax into the idea of the breath breathing itself.
There's nothing to control,
Nothing to focus on.
Just let the breath breathe itself.
Awe is an extremely powerful emotion,
One that can take us both out of ourselves and into ourselves at the same time.
Today's guided practice is based on the work of Ethan Cross in his book,
Chatter.
Dr.
Cross defines chatter as the cyclical negative thoughts and emotions that can turn our singular capacity for introspection into a curse rather than a blessing.
Today's practice is perfect for those moments when you are stuck in rumination.
Awe is one of those magical emotions that can help us to forget our own needs and wants.
Awe brings forth other emotions that can't easily be explained.
Yet you don't have to go anywhere to experience awe.
You can start right here.
If your eyes are not already closed,
I invite you to bring them to a close right now.
And I invite you to bring to mind an experience that left you with a feeling of awe.
Something vast,
Something indescribable,
Something that made you utter a surprise.
Perhaps something that took your breath away.
Be in this moment.
Feel the awe.
Allow the emotion to course through you yet again.
Tap into the feeling of abundance,
Gratitude,
Joy.
It's expansive.
It's infinite.
Boundless.
Immeasurable.
Both within you and outside of you.
You could live in this moment forever.
I invite you to open your arms wide as if you can take it all with you.
Capture all that positive,
Expansive,
Boundless energy.
And then slowly,
Gently,
Bring your hands over your heart.
Energetically place all that expansiveness into your being.
Allow the awe to flow through you.
Allow the awe to both settle and ground you into the earth.
Allow the energy to also lift you towards the sky.
As you sit here grounded in awe,
I invite you to do one last thing.
Take a look around in your mind's eye and create something new in this moment.
Perhaps you see something new in this moment of awe.
Perhaps you do something new.
Perhaps you feel something new.
This is your moment of awe.
You can play with it however you like.
You are awe.
You are expansive.
You are infinite.
You are boundless.
You are immeasurable.
And while you're being all of these things,
Feel as well.
Feel awe.
Feel joy.
Feel gratitude.
Feel bliss.
Feel elation.
Feel glee.
Feel it all.
This is the power of awe.
It reminds you that you are a tiny dot of a thing,
Amongst other tiny dots of things,
All living together,
An enormous ball of rock and dirt,
Which is spinning around in a vast universe of other spinning balls of rock and dirt.
We are tiny,
And we are awesome at the same time.
I invite you to stay here in this moment of awe for as long as you wish,
Even when my voice recedes into nothing.
And when you are ready,
Come back to the here and now,
Into the belief and the feeling of awe.
