Hello,
And thank you for joining me in this experience.
My name is Dr.
Elizabeth Collins,
Practitioner of acupuncture,
Functional medicine,
And hypnosis.
While anxiety is often considered a circumstance of the brain,
The truth is that stress and anxiety affect our bodies in profound ways.
They impact the production of hormones and neurotransmitters,
Interrupting sleep,
Affecting digestion,
And even sometimes causing physical pain.
Meditation and hypnosis techniques can be very powerful tools to help release these sensations and bring a sense of peace and balance back into the body.
Over the course of this experience,
We will walk together through a meditation targeting the way that we carry anxiety in our physical selves,
Helping you to release any tension or discomfort,
And integrate a sense of peace and relaxation.
At the end of this meditation,
You are welcome to drift into a peaceful sleep or awaken and continue with your day.
Please take a moment to find a comfortable seat,
Or if you prefer,
Lie down on a bed or a yoga mat.
Make sure that you are at a comfortable temperature and cover yourself with a blanket if needed.
Gently close your eyes and allow yourself to breathe normally.
Allow the muscles of your eyes to relax as though they are ice cubes melting in a glass of warm water.
Release your jaw ever so slightly by allowing your teeth to part.
This is an area of the body that often carries a lot of tension and letting it go will help your entire body to relax more fully.
As you continue to breathe normally,
Allow your belly to soften.
Imagine feeling the inhalation begin all the way down in your hips,
Then your abdomen,
Your lower ribs,
And finally your chest,
Really letting go of any lingering tension.
When you release your breath,
Move in the opposite direction.
Imagine the exhale beginning from your chest and allow the breath to gently escape from your lower ribs,
Your abdomen,
And finally your hips.
Now begin breathing more deeply.
Imagine the inhale beginning at your hips,
Working your way up your torso all the way in nice and deep.
And when you've inhaled completely,
Hold it for just a moment.
And release,
Allowing the breath to escape naturally,
Feeling your muscles melt as you exhale all the way out.
Again,
Take another deep breath,
Imagining beginning at your hips all the way in,
And hold it for just a moment.
And release,
Feeling your muscles relax twice as much on your exhale.
One more time,
Take a nice deep breath and gently hold,
And this time really let go.
Good.
Allow yourself to return to breathing normally as you settle into a blissful state of deep relaxation.
Not engaging in any lingering sensations,
Allow your unconscious mind to simply observe if there is any area in your body where you may still be feeling some tension.
Perhaps it's your shoulders,
Your hips,
Or even the arches of your feet.
There is no wrong answer,
And this will be individual to you.
If from your relaxed state you observe several places,
Choose the one that comes to mind first or seems most prominent.
With a sense of gentle ease,
Allow your unconscious mind to express what shape and size this area is.
It may be large or small,
With straight edges or uneven ones.
Perhaps it's a perfect geometric shape,
Or a shape with no obvious form.
And I want you to imagine what color this shape is,
Now.
Continue to gently breathe in and out in your natural rhythm.
There is no need to engage with this colorful shape.
Simply observe it and breathe.
I want you to notice,
Now,
That the shape starts to get smaller and smaller,
The color changes.
This may happen slowly or rapidly,
But sooner or later you will notice the shape shrinking.
And as you do,
Any tension associated with it begins to get smaller and smaller and further and further away.
And I wonder if you can let that shape get so dim and so small that it disappears completely,
Taking any lingering sensations with it.
Smaller and smaller until it's gone completely.
And once that shape is gone completely,
You'll notice a sense of complete relief in this new,
Open and relaxed space.
Take a deep breath,
Reveling in this new,
Wonderful sensation.
And in a moment,
I want you to allow your unconscious mind to gently start bringing forth a happy,
Positive,
Relaxing color and allow your unconscious mind to do that now.
Perhaps it is a shimmering gold,
A verdant green,
Or a rich purple.
Whatever this soothing color is,
It is yours and you're doing great.
Begin to see your relaxing color fill this fresh,
Open space.
There is no need to force,
It will happen naturally.
Sooner or later,
There is no rush.
As the color begins to fill in,
It brings with it an incredible sense of peace and relaxation now.
Eventually you will notice that the open space will fill in completely with feelings of peace and calm and the beautiful,
Positive color.
Take a deep breath and allow your unconscious mind to fully integrate these sensations.
Allow the peace and relaxation to settle into place so that you may access them at any time after this meditation is complete.
Once your unconscious mind has fully integrated these new,
Peaceful sensations and they are working perfectly,
Take a deep breath.
That's right.
Begin to slowly bring your awareness back into your body.
If you are ready to fall asleep,
Drift gently into a blissful rest now.
If you are ready to continue with your day,
I will count you back into the room from one to five,
Beginning at one,
Which will bring you back to the surface feeling three times greater than before and gently open your eyes on five.
Gently begin to wiggle your fingers and toes,
Slowly integrating the movements into larger muscle groups.
If you are moved to do so,
Take a deep breath and a long stretch,
Carrying with you this new sensation of peace,
Calm and relaxation.
Thank you for allowing me to share this experience with you.
Namaste.
