Welcome to the Journey Inward.
Today's experience is a guided,
Deep relaxation.
I suggest that you might be most comfortable lying down on the floor.
You would set yourself up,
If you're familiar with yoga and a Shavasana type setup,
The one that you're most familiar with and comfortable.
If you're not comfortable with this position or lying down,
You always have the opportunity to remain seated.
I do recommend you gather a couple of blankets and pillows,
Perhaps a journal,
Before we begin.
So you may want to pause this recording and gather your supplies for a time of letting go.
Once you've gathered your supplies,
Place a cushion or rolled blanket under your knees.
This is going to facilitate a release in the low back and hips,
An area of the body that many of us collect pain and tension.
You also may want to fold a blanket and place it or a neck pillow under the head,
Neck,
And the very tops of the shoulders.
As you fold the blanket,
Maybe take the top and fold it an extra time so that the forehead,
When you lie down,
Is slightly higher than the chin.
This way,
You're turning our awareness down so we're gazing into the heart.
I'd like you to have an additional blanket or an eye pillow,
If you have them,
So that you can cover up and contain your energy.
This is going to help invite your awareness to turn inward during this time of relaxation.
We need to let go of the demands of the world and everything happening around you and contain your energy around the physical body and turning that energy and moving it inward to facilitate healing that can come from a deep relaxation and restoration experience.
If you know that you have anxious mind,
Anxious body,
And you have a weighted blanket or something weighted to place across the thighs,
That may help you.
Just as an eye pillow or a gentle covering across the eyelids softly can give the eyes in your sense of needing to see the world around you and perceive through vision permission to let go,
Release,
And soften.
However,
If you've been through any trauma and closing your eyes is uncomfortable,
You can release that direction and allow your eyes to remain softly open.
Please just find yourself comfortable and supported wherever you're at.
Allow the knees to rest on the blanket or bolster beneath them,
The shins,
Ankles,
And feet softly turn outward,
Letting the pinky toe sides of your feet become a little more heavy,
Opening,
Releasing,
Letting go.
The low back meets the earth,
And there's an unfolding of the torso.
One vertebrae at a time,
With the exhale,
Feel the back body meet the earth beneath.
The weight of the world and the shoulders carry,
Releases.
The shoulders slip off the ears,
Melt down the back.
The back is supported by the earth,
And as you exhale,
Let go.
Allow the inhale to follow with a soft front,
Rising each breath like a soft wave across the front body.
Opening,
Releasing with the exhale,
Opening with the inhale.
Any tension in the torso,
The back,
The back,
The back,
The back,
The back,
The back,
The back,
The heel,
The back,
The hips,
And the chest.
It's invited to release for this time.
Allow yourself to just create an opening of an awareness that surrounds places of tension,
Pain,
Or suffering that you may have noticed thus far in the body.
Those may remain,
But you can open your awareness to surround them with love and light.
Make any tiny adjustments necessary to find more comfort in the back,
The hips,
And the legs.
Return to stillness as gravity invites the body to release and let go.
Across the shoulders,
An invitation awaits for you to let go through the arms.
The elbows relax.
Heavy anchors dropping from the bottom of each elbow,
Holding the arms on the earth beneath them.
From the elbows,
A pathway to each wrist,
And the hands soften as you turn the back of each hand to touch the floor or the blanket,
Whatever holds you.
Feel the bones in the hands anchoring,
And let go as though you're exhaling through the palms of each hand,
Feeling the fingertips softly curl inward,
Receptive and open to receive,
And just let go.
Notice the softness from the palms of the hands up the inner interior surface of each arm.
Maybe inch the arms away from the torso so that you have space to breathe.
And then,
As you exhale,
The surface of the arms receives no feedback.
Allow yourself to open,
Expand,
And widen during this time.
Space to let go,
Space to heal.
Space to let go,
Space to heal.
You may feel the torso responding as each breath enters and fills,
Opening your body to this moment that you're in,
This moment of healing.
Let go of the need to do or be anywhere else in any particular way,
Noticing the expression that is crossed over your face,
The expression of receptivity.
The eyes are heavy,
Deep in the sockets,
Looking down into the heart space,
Lengthen the back of the neck,
Let the chin drop a bit.
Relax the jaw,
Relax the ears.
Listen inward and watch as the breath fills you,
As you exhale,
Invites awareness to drift downward into the depths of your body,
Your mind,
And your soul.
You have permission to let go.
I bring you a poem,
My Sapphire Rose.
She let go.
She let go without a thought or a word.
She let go.
She let go of the fear.
She let go of the judgments.
She let go of the confluence of opinions swarming around her head.
She let go of the committee of indecision within her.
She let go of all the right reasons,
Wholly and completely,
Without hesitation or worry.
She just let go.
She didn't ask anyone for advice.
She didn't read a book on how to let go.
She didn't search the scriptures.
She just let go.
She let go of all the memories that held her back.
She let go of all the anxiety that kept her from moving forward.
She let go of the planning and all of the calculations about how to do it just right.
No one was around when it happened.
There was no applause or congratulations.
No one thanked her or praised her.
No one noticed a thing.
Like a leaf falling from a tree,
She just let go.
There was no effort.
There was no struggle.
It wasn't good and it wasn't bad.
It was what it was and it was just that.
In the space of letting go,
She let it all be.
A small smile came over her face.
A light breeze blew through her and the sun and the moon shone forevermore.
