This guided prayer and meditation is for couples to engage together or individually. This "short version" offers 8 minutes to help you and your partner maintain a daily practice of love and prayer. Please see the long version for more guidance and inspiration. I encourage you to design a sacred space and perhaps your own prayer, where you regularly return to one another and your commitment to love each other. Love is a choice. Showing up for one another is also a choice. Prayer roots us and holds us together. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 - Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. I offer this prayer to you, in honor of my marriage and learning how much my husband and I gained from bringing God into our marriage each day. Amen.

Coming together with your partner in this moment.

There's nothing to prepare.

Yet,

Ensuring that you feel the sacred moving between you,

Noticing how a shared breath invites sacred union.

Inhaling,

Receiving,

Exhaling,

Offering.

Fingertips may touch,

Hearts,

Hands.

Allow the breath to flow between you and bless you.

That's root and prayer from First Corinthians.

Love is patient and kind.

Love does not envy or boast.

It is not arrogant or rude.

It does not insist on its own way.

It is not irritable or resentful.

It does not rejoice at wrongdoings,

But rejoices with the truth.

Love bears all things,

Believes all things,

Hopes all things,

Endures all things.

Love is a willful act.

It is a choice.

This is a wisdom that has come to my life and rooted deeply.

And I want to remind that as you come together through a sacred decision,

A forming sacred space and a prayer or meditation time together,

That this is an act of love and commitment that you offer one another.

I'd like to grant you a moment to root in your commitment,

Dropping into the sanctuary of your heart.

Visualize yourself unlocking and entering into this quiet,

Still place.

And entering into that sanctuary together with your partner,

Possibly hand in hand,

Allowing light and love to shine down upon you.

Taking a minute of silence to receive the will and the purpose that God has for each of you as one.

And let us pray.

Heavenly Mother Mary,

Protect and bless our marriage.

Nurture us and watch over us as only a mother can.

Dear God,

May we remain committed to your will Dear God,

May we remain committed to grow together.

May we do your will as you have set for us,

Both as a couple and individually.

Help us to cultivate a relationship marked by selflessness,

By trust,

And by faith in your purpose for us.

May we always treat one another with respect and dignity,

Remembering that to love one another is a willful act and a commitment to each other.

We ask you to protect our marriage and keep us faithful to one another and your plans for us.

As we learn to do the work you have intended for us,

Allow us to be open to your guidance and to hear your call.

Please grant us the strength and the wisdom to join together daily in prayer,

In love,

And in making decisions in time to build our strong,

Safe foundation rooted in Christ,

Committed through love.

May we love,

Honor,

And respect one another always,

Trusting your presence in our life.

In the name of Jesus,

We pray.

Amen.
