Now it's more of chit-chat ahead.
I am an adopted child.
My own father,
I do not know.
My mother died when I was born.
My foster father,
To please my foster mother,
Who was childless,
Adopted me,
Almost by accident.
He's a simple man,
A truck owner and driver.
My mother keeps the house.
I am 24 years now.
My mother keeps the house.
I am 24 years now.
For the last two and a half years,
I am travelling,
Restless,
Seeking.
I want to live a good life,
A holy life.
What am I to do?
Maharaj says,
Go home.
Take charge of your father's business.
Look after your parents in their old age.
Marry the girl who is waiting for you.
Be loyal,
Be simple,
Be humble.
Hide your virtue,
Live silently.
The five senses and the three qualities,
The gunas,
Are your eight steps in yoga.
And I am is the great reminder,
The mahamantra.
You can learn from them all you need to know.
The most important sentence,
Be attentive.
Inquire ceaselessly.
That is all.
Be attentive.
Stay as the witnessing awareness.
That is little.
Yes,
Yes,
He's telling him,
You as a householder can get there.
You do not need to run away to the Himalayas.
Do everything that your flow is taking you into.
Your household,
Your wife,
Your child,
Whatever.
Being there.
What do you do?
Constantly be the field of awareness.
Be attentive.
Be the field of awareness.
And number two?
Inquiry.
Self-inquiry.
Self-inquiry.
Very important.
Sufficient.
Self-inquiry on what?
The sense of I am.
Recognizing that again and again.
And recognizing the world.
Sight,
Sound,
Smell,
Taste,
Touch.
And their gunas.
When there is Rajogun,
They are in activity.
There is Tamogun,
The wave recedes and they disappear.
Sattvagun,
They are there,
But you are in pure seeing.
There is no jumping in.
That is Sattva.
What is a perception?
What is a sensation?
What is a thought?
What is a feeling?
It's Rajogun.
What is deep sleep?
Tamogun.
What is Sattva?
Pure seeing in the waking and dreaming is Sattva.
The perception coming up,
The sensations coming up,
This is the Rajogun.
So many arisings are there.
That is Rajogun.
It's got nothing to do with whether the body has eaten this food or that food.
So,
Piyar Advaita doesn't speak about that.
Piyar Advaita says it doesn't exist.
It is not.
It is not.
Because the arising is imagined,
Its quality of activity is also imagined.
That's all.
So,
Enquiry and staying as the witnessing awareness.
Two most important points for a householder.
So,
The next question is,
If just living one's life liberates,
Why are not all liberated?
Maharaj says,
All are being liberated.
It is not what you live but how you live that matters.
So,
It doesn't matter whether you are rich or poor.
It doesn't matter whether you are an engineer or doctor.
It doesn't matter whether you live in US or in India.
It doesn't matter.
How you live is important.
What is that how?
Bahirmukhi or Antarmukhi.
If you are outwards,
You are suffering.
Whether you are rich or you are poor.
You are really poor,
Both of you.
More than the same.
Whether you are in America or you are in India.
You are really poor,
Both of you.
You are suffering.
The moment you turn in,
Even a pauper on the road becomes richer than the millionaire in America.
Why?
Because he has turned within.
How you live is important.
Not what.
The what is not important.
The how is important.
The idea of enlightenment is of utmost importance.
Just to know that there is such possibility changes one's entire outlook.
It acts like a burning match in a heap of sawdust.
All the great teachers did nothing else.
A spark of truth can burn up a mountain of lies.
The opposite is also true.
The sun of truth remains hidden behind the cloud of self-identification with the body.
So he is saying just one little spark is sufficient.
The moment that begins,
I spoke about your spark.
That which got you started on the spiritual path.
And see where it has come.
All the way from Dwaitam to Advaitam.
Yes,
And that promises you that final transformation.
So that recognition,
The hearing about enlightenment is very important.
Very important.
That spark of truth can burn a mountain of lies.
And that's all that truth tellers do.
My job is only to tell you the truth.
My spark has been left from this side.
It is slowly going to burn your mountain of lies.
You don't have an option.
Do you realize that once you see,
You cannot unsee the truth.
Now that you've seen,
It's nothing but perception,
Sensation,
Thought,
Feeling.
Can you go back?
You can never unsee it.
Once you have seen this truth,
There is no unseeing.
Yes,
There can be pretence.
I can close my eyes and pretend.
But something inside you will always know.
You cannot fool your own self.
You can fool others,
But you cannot fool yourself.
So the spark has been ignited from here.
Eventually,
It's going to burn your mountain of lies.
The opposite is also true,
He says.
The sun of truth remains hidden behind the cloud of self-identification with the body.
You recognize this body and the identification with this is going to be your biggest obstacle.
The sun of truth will be clouded because of identification with the body.
In Sanskrit,
The word is Tadatma.
Tadatma will always be your obstacle.
So how to break Tadatma?
Simple.
Again and again recognizing and acknowledging that I am not Ekta.
I am this witnessing awareness space of Ekta.
Especially when you get all your awards and accolades and when you get praise.
I am not the person.
I am not the doer.
I am the witnessing awareness space of that person.
Completely breaking that Tadatma.
Even before it builds,
You break it.
Before it builds,
You break it.
Before it comes up,
You break it.
You keep breaking it,
Keep breaking it,
Keep breaking it.
There is no way it can get enough opportunity to stick together.
Tadatma.
Do you understand?
Identification.
You keep breaking it away.
Breaking it away.
Clear?
This has to be an effort from your side.
In the beginning,
It will be an effort.
A point will come when it will become formless.
You don't have to do it.
It will become Nishkviyam.
Clear so far?
Questioner.
This spreading the good news of enlightenment seems very important.
Maharaj says the very hearing of it is a promise of enlightenment.
The very meeting a Guru is the assurance of liberation.
Perfection is life-giving and creative.
This is perfection.
Recognizing I am consciousness is perfection.
Because then everything is me.
All is me.
There is no you.
There is no other.
It's perfect in itself.
Imperfection comes from?
From two.
Do you realize this?
Duality creates imperfection.
When there is only oneness.
That is perfection.
Perfection is life-giving and creative.
Questioner says does a realized man ever think I am realized?
Is he not astonished when people make much of him?
Does he not take himself to be an ordinary human being?
Maharaj says neither ordinary nor extraordinary.
This is very important.
Highlight it.
Just being aware and affectionate.
And how?
Intensely affectionate and intensely aware.
That is the quality.
Intensely affectionate and intensely aware.
It's a part of it.
You cannot not be affectionate when everything is me only.
There is no question of the other.
Can one hand hit the other hand?
It's one and the same.
Like that.
There is no question of hatred.
There is only that recognition of oneness.
That love.
Recognition this is all me.
Me.
Me.
Not mine.
Me.
Yeah.
That brings up that intense affection.
Neither ordinary nor extraordinary.
Just being aware and affectionate intensely.
He looks at himself without indulging in self-definition or self-identification.
Yeah.
No self-definition.
No self-identification.
He does not know himself as anything apart from the world.
He is the world.
This is all me.
He is the world.
He's completely rid of himself.
Yeah.
I've got nothing to do with Ekta.
I've got nothing to do with the person.
Completely rid of himself.
Like a man who is very rich but continually gives away his riches.
He is not rich for he has nothing.
Yeah.
Because he does not possess anything.
He doesn't say anything is mine.
So he is not rich.
At the same time he is not poor for he gives abundantly.
Yeah.
All is yours.
All.
Whatever knowledge you want is yours.
You should have the patrata to take it.
It's all yours.
He is just property-less.
Yeah.
Nothing is mine.
Not like a land somewhere in Lonavala.
Property-less means this is not mine.
Husband is not mine.
Wife is not mine.
Child is not mine.
That clarity.
Yeah.
This grasping is not there for him.
Yeah.
So he is property-less.
Money is not mine.
Knowledge is not mine.
And this body only is not mine and its world is not mine.
Nothing is mine.
That way property-less.
Yeah.
Similarly the realized man is egoless.
He has lost the capacity of identifying himself with anything.
He is without location.
Placeless.
Beyond space and time.
Beyond the world.
Beyond words and thoughts is he.
Yeah.
No place.
No location where he identifies I am.
He is not limited.
He is simply that infinite awareness.
Does not hold on to an identification.
Does not hold on to a property.
Does not hold on to anything as mine.
Yeah.
Questioner.
Well,
It is deep mystery to me.
I am a simple man.
So Maharaj says it is you who are deep,
Complex,
Mysterious,
Hard to understand.
I am simplicity itself compared to you.
It is,
No?
It is so simple.
Yeah,
As the baby was.
No mineness,
No I-ness,
No conflict between I and you.
Yeah,
This is simplicity.
What?
You are the complex person.
You are telling me I am complex.
Yeah.
You are complicated.
You have conflicts.
You are in duality.
You are stuck between I and you.
You get lost in conditioning.
Yeah.
Mine,
Mine,
Mine.
You say mine,
Mine,
Mine.
Yeah.
So who is deep and complex?
You.
Yeah.
I am simplicity itself compared to you.
I am what is,
Without any distraction whatsoever into inner and outer,
Mine and yours,
Good and bad.
He makes no distinction,
Without any distinction.
Yeah.
There are no labels.
This is good.
This is bad.
This is mine.
This is yours.
This is you.
This is I.
He does not get into that,
Without any distinction whatsoever into inner and outer,
Mine and yours,
Good and bad.
What the world is,
I am.
What I am,
The world is.
Very clear?
Question.
How does it happen that each man creates his own world?
Maharaj says,
When number of people are asleep,
Each dreams his own dream.
Only on awakening,
The question of many different dreams arises and dissolves when they are all seen as dreams.
Something imagined.
Basically,
What happened to you today?
When you started seeing everything as an arising and nothing but one arising at a time and you recognize,
Oh,
There is just the now and the whole story of the vyakti,
Of the person is nothing but a dream,
Then you question it.
How did I even think that I am that vyakti,
That continuous dream?
That is an imagination.
The moment it is seen as an imagination,
It collapses.
Questioner says,
Even dreams have a foundation.
Maharaj says,
In memory.
Even then,
What is remembered is but another dream.
The memory of the false cannot but give rise to the false.
Please highlight.
The memory of false cannot but give rise to the false.
I was born here,
I went to this school,
Then this happened,
Then that happened,
Then that whole vyakti that you have created is memory,
Habit.
It's only false.
And whatever it gives rise to is false.
So wake up and recognize the vyakti is false.
Obviously,
Whatever it's going to give rise to is going to be false.
What is false is its tent.
You just remember facts.
You forget opinions.
So questioner says,
What is a fact?
Most important point.
What is perceived in pure awareness,
Unaffected by desire and fear,
Is fact.
Whatever is perceived,
Whatever you perceive today,
Arising one after the other,
One after the other.
Whatever is perceived in pure awareness,
When you were in that space of awareness,
In pure awareness,
That is a fact.
That's not an opinion.
That is a fact.
It cannot be conditioning because it is what you saw in pure awareness.
Pure awareness.
Not coming from desire and fear.
Would it come from desire and fear?
Pure seeing of one perception after another,
One sensation,
One thought,
One feeling?
No.
So it was unaffected by desire and fear.
Hence,
It was not conditioning.
That is a fact.
So be with the facts.
The flow is like that.
It's through Prachi also.
Prachi just refuses to recognize it.
She wants to be more than what Prachi is.
That is why.
When you really look,
You will be astonished.
Wow!
How did this happen?
Stop looking for more.
When the desires and fears,
Stop going behind them and take a stand far away from this.
Not identifying with this.
Every moment is a wow.
Every moment is a wow.
So many times I have to edit the content of the video and I say,
Wow.
I only don't understand how that came out.
That's not me.
So when you completely dissociate,
Then you see it.
That it is the flow.
It is using you as a medium.
You are simply a projection.
That which you are considering as I is only a projection.
It's the flow that is wow.
Look at it from that angle.
It's got nothing to do with these individual body minds.
It's the flow that is wow.
So now be with this wow flow.
You actually see it.
You see that the body mind does something and you claim the ownership of that action in retrospect.
It was not in my hands.
It is not the flow decides,
The flow beats you.
From every side,
From up,
Down,
Above and pushes you into one direction.
Your ego is so strong.
It just wants to claim ownership of it.
Your flow brought you here.
It was not in your hands.
Given a choice,
I do not want to teach.
I never wanted to.
I was forced on this seat at the age of 17.
I didn't understand what is it.
No,
You just open your mouth and speak.
That's all it was.
So you have to recognize this.
No,
I am not the doer.
It is happening.
You will start recognizing.
Yes,
I didn't choose this.
This career came my way.
I didn't choose this.
This job came my way.
I didn't choose this.
This relationship came my way.
I didn't have an option but this.
Then you are being with the reality of your life.
Then you are seeing reality as it is.
You did not choose any of it.
My attraction was to the spiritual knowledge.
Not to teaching.
To learning it.
That's it.
That's all I wanted to stop at.
No,
But I was pushed.
Like that.
You are being pushed by the flow.
You do not want to do what you are doing.
It is happening.
Then the ego claims false ownership and says,
Yeah,
I am doing it.
If it is good.
If it is not good,
It says,
No,
I am not doing it.
Others are forcing me.
Bad luck.
Destiny.
Kismat.
What words you use?
Karma.
Your favorite word.
The only wiggle room that you have is consciousness.
To look within.
To look without.
To look within.
To look without.
That is the only free will.
Nothing else.
You have no other free will.
You are stuck in the story.
The story is going on.
The movie has started.
You are the only one sitting in the theater.
It is up to you to get completely consumed in the story and cry with the hero and laugh with the heroine and dance with them around the bushes or to sit here and not get involved in any of the Sukha,
Dukha and simply watch it like a movie.
That is the only free will the person who is in the hall has.
Do you understand that?
You can watch it and cry.
And you can sit here,
Not cry and still watch the same thing.
Do you see that?
So you have only that little free will.
To see or not to see.
That's it.
Nothing else.
You cannot change the story of the body-mind person.
Can you exit the theater?
That is not in your hands.
You asked for it.
You better go through it now.
That's what he said,
No?
The strong karmas,
The strong impressions when he brought up the karma topic the strong impressions those impressions you will have to go through.
Until there,
The fruit is fulfilled.
And simply be the witnessing awareness.
I've got nothing to do with this body.
None of my business.
Then life becomes very simple.
Then you are actually living.
Otherwise you will continue to live as this person crying,
Weeping and still wanting to get out of the suffering.
Very beautifully it's described in Yoga Vashishta.
I did it a few years ago.
Where there's this mad man.
He beats himself up.
He cries,
He howls,
Then he runs to the village and he's saying that man is beating me,
Man is beating me,
Please help me.
And then he only goes back to the jungle again.
Again he beats himself up.
Again he starts running to the village and he shouts the man is beating me,
Man is beating me.
That's what you're doing.
You are suffering.
You are causing yourself suffering.
Till the time you don't learn the lesson that putting my hand into the relationship is burning.
Putting my hand into name and fame is burning.
Putting my hand into that money the lobha,
Greed is burning.
Till the time you don't understand this you will keep doing.
You'll keep putting your hand out there.
One day you'll be fed up.
One day you'll realize no,
There has to be something more.
And then the inward turning will happen.
The less amount of conditioning the easier it is to get established as the witness.
You have a little more conditioning little more effort is required.
So have the patience with yourself.
Be kind to yourself.
Because this is not important for me.
This is only one arising at a time.
I have got such a big wealth.
This arising is nothing.
It's petty.
It will take me away from my wealth.
So I cannot give this up.
It's too precious.
It's too precious.
Why should I suffer when I can have bliss?
When I can have bliss.
Very nice.
Beautiful.
Beautiful.
So you have to realize it.
You have to wake up.
You have to see what is your inner calling.
The flow will beat you and bring you there.
Just go.
Just go with the flow.
It's anyway taking you.
You can go happily and you can go shouting and screaming and no I don't want to go.
You still have to go in the direction the flow takes you.
Do you realize this?
It is not in your hands.
You are not in control.
So relinquish control.
Let go.
Give it up.
Just be happy with whatever the flow takes me.
I am with it.
I am in agreement with whatever is your will.
The flow's will again.
There is no God up there in the heaven.
Do you know when you were born?
Then how can you say?
If that which was not born,
How can it die?
Advaita Vedanta means there is no birth,
There is no death.
There is no next lifetime.
And these are only concepts which were made by religious leaders and spiritual leaders who wanted something from you.
Name,
Fame,
Money,
Puja.
You do some prarthana.
Great,
I'll get 1000 bucks or whatever.
10,
000 bucks,
I don't know.
Inflation rate in India.
Total zero idea.
But whatever.
That's how they created these concepts.
There is no proof of birth.
Then how can there be death for that which was never born?
You have to do the self-inquiry which accompanies the chapter video.
Then do the homework.
Do the homework and at the end of the semester,
Take the exam.
Again,
You will be doing all the self-inquiries again.
Finally,
You will start seeing at home.
You don't need Ekta.
Take this only as an inspiration and start walking on your own.
I am there.
It's not that I am not there.
But I want you to be spiritually independent because I know you can be.
If I can be,
You can be.
So become spiritually independent.
If there is something,
I am there.
You have a question,
I am there.
You fall down,
You slip a little,
I am there.
Don't worry.
But attempt to walk on your own.
Can I do my own self-inquiry?
She already has 100 videos out there.
Can I just put on that video pertaining to this chapter,
Whichever chapter you are on,
And see it.
The direct seeing is important.
Clear?
Yes,
Committed?
Start walking.
You will see there is no birth,
No proof of birth.
I don't celebrate that birthday.
Somebody sends me a wish,
I send them back.
I have no proof I was born.
Do you?
I have no proof I was born.
Somebody else has said,
I was never born.
Who are you wishing?
People stop wishing me only.
So,
Recognize these truths.
You were never born.
There is no question of death for that which was never born.
Wake up to this truth.
Start making it very clear.
Every reflection in your life will turn around.
Everything will become like you.
Abandon it.
It doesn't exist.
It doesn't exist.
Maharaj has also very clearly said,
There is no birth,
There is no death.
There is a whole chapter on it.
That which is never born cannot die.
Clear?
So,
See that you read these very seriously and do the self-inquiry.
Clear?
To let it go.
Let it go.
It was just a concept to bring you onto the path.
Watch my old karma and reincarnation videos.
There is nobody out there convincing you as much as I can convince you about karma and reincarnation and in today's session,
I am talking exact opposite of that.
So,
Where convincing is concerned,
I can do it.
No point.
That is for the beginner to bring him to the path.
Bhogi.
How to get the bhogi onto the path of yoga?
Karma,
Reincarnation,
Rebirth.
Very nice,
Tempting apple.
Come on,
Walk behind me.
They at least come to the path.
When they start walking and they come up,
Now I tell them,
That was all lies.
Drop it.
Let it go.
That was only so that you at least start turning in.
Now you turn in,
Now find the truth.
Like you climb a ladder,
You take steps up,
You have to let go of the previous step.
No?
You can't hold on to that step.
That's why I am saying let go of the idea of karma,
Karma phalam,
Birth,
Death.
Let it go.
Only direct seeing.
We are at Ph.
D.
Level.
Are you a pathra for Ph.
D.
?
Or are you going to be a dropout?
It has to be pathra.
Yes.
Otherwise there is no point.
Otherwise there is no point.
Then only you can continue.
