Listen deeply to the world around you — to rhythms and polyrhythms unfolding everywhere. Hear the hum of traffic, the rustle of leaves, the rhythm of footsteps, the pulse of your own breath. Notice the balance between small and large, fast and slow, low and high, natural and manmade sounds. Each vibration, from birdsong to machinery, contributes to a vast and intricate harmony. As you open to this awareness, sense how every tone and silence belongs to one living composition — the voice of creation itself. The sacred is not distant or rare; it is resonating through every sound, every heartbeat, every breath. Listen, and recognize that you are part of the great music, perfectly in tune with all that is, a Universal Symphony

Transcript

Take a moment to self-soothe.

Using your breath to slow yourself down.

Becoming more still.

Becoming more quiet.

Letting the mind drift across the sea of thoughts.

Deepening your inhale,

Extending your exhale,

And breathing.

Just easy breathing.

Use your ears.

What do you hear?

What sounds are consistent and regular around you?

Steady thrumming.

Having a pulse and a rhythm.

What do you hear?

Listen.

You're breathing.

What do you hear that's irregular?

Haphazard?

Even random?

Listen.

Breathing in deeply,

Out slowly.

When you get distracted,

Just come back to your ears.

What loud sounds?

What powerful sounds are around you?

Breathing,

Listening.

What softer and quieter sounds,

Small sounds,

Can you hear?

Listening to that.

Breathing deeply in,

Slowly out,

Coming back when you're distracted,

Attuning to your ears.

What are human-made sounds that you can perceive?

What do you hear that is from human sound?

Mechanical,

Perhaps.

In and out,

Breathing,

Listening.

What do you hear of nature?

Listening to nature.

Breathing deeply in,

Slowly out,

Returning when you get distracted,

As we all do.

What low-pitched sounds do you hear?

The bass,

The rumble.

Breathing,

Listening to those low-pitched sounds.

What do you hear that's high-pitched?

Treble-y.

Listen to what's high-pitched.

Now gather all those sounds together,

High and low,

Soft and loud,

Human and natural,

Repetitive and irregular.

See if you can gather them up and hear the voice of the universe,

The universal symphony.

Breathe into that and listen deeply.
