Begin in your place,
Standing,
Seated,
Or lying down.
Letting your body become calmer and quieter.
Acknowledging that quiet is never silent,
And that calmness is never still,
And that your mind can't ever be blank.
But just settling into a little less noise,
A little less fidgeting,
A little less mental gymnastics.
Coming in.
Settling down.
Feeling the weight of your body.
Letting gravity pull on you,
Both intensely and gently.
And let it do its work of settling you in,
Pulling on your muscles and bones to help you relax.
Noting your breath.
Goes in and out,
And out and in.
Passing like the pages of a children's story.
You don't need to set or adjust your breath yet,
Just take note that you're breathing.
And then dial your breathing just a little slower,
A bit deeper.
You can use your breath to direct oxygen to parts of your body that might be clenched.
In your mind's eye,
Directing your breath to those tense spots to help them relax and open and settle.
Your breath can help you create space in any parts of your body that might be closed or tight or even uncomfortable.
Settling into gravity,
Becoming a little more quiet,
A little more still.
Breathing a little bit longer.
What part of your body feels particularly or unusually good right now?
Combined with the attention of your breath,
Is there a part of you that's particularly relaxed or easy or happy?
Maybe there's a part of your body that's usually a little uncomfortable and today feels more just right.
Good things are coming.
Good things are coming to you.
Good things are coming to us.
It doesn't mean that the days won't have struggle,
But at every moment something good is getting closer.
Meditation helps us to stay present in the current moment,
But know also that in future moments good things are coming.
Good things are coming to you.
Good things are coming to all of us.
Breathe in that eager awareness.
And as you breathe out,
Let that anticipation settle into you.
Good things are coming.
Good things are coming to me.
Good things are coming to you.
Good things are coming to everyone.
Breathing.
Letting that good sensation fill you up in body and mind.
Knowing that whatever stresses are ahead,
There will be also things to look forward to with excitement and joy and gratitude.
Breathing in.
Think about your environment,
Your home,
Your neighborhood,
Your space.
Good things are coming.
Something pleasant in the mail.
A hummingbird flitting by.
A hug from someone you haven't seen in too long.
Good things are coming to you.
And to us.
Good things are coming.
You can approach your life with an eager anticipation.
The good things are coming.
In this world with its meanness and its bad news,
There are gifts and goodness at every moment.
Breathe in that there is eagerness for works of art yet to come.
For the future excitement of sporting events.
A beautiful sky.
And the possibility of humans doing service,
Kindness,
And good for each other.
Good things are coming.
Good things are coming for me.
Good things are coming for you.
Good things are coming for us.
Good things are coming for the world entire.
Continuing to breathe at the moment you are now.
In the place you find yourself.
And feeling that eagerness and anticipation.
Even an excitement of what's to come.
Good things are coming.
Good things are coming.
Good things are coming.
