Just coming in.
Getting lost,
Getting loose,
Letting go,
Ignoring everything you can.
Putting it all aside,
Putting it down.
If your body is tired,
You just need to get out of the way.
And if you're not tired,
I'm not sure why you're listening,
But you're welcome here too.
So just feel the parts of you that are tired,
The parts that aren't charged with caffeine or a good workout.
The parts that aren't anxious about something tomorrow or fearful about something today.
There's still parts of you maybe just a toe that's sleepy,
That wants to quit on the day that is ready to be done.
Just notice those parts.
Where do you feel like you're sagging or drooping or sinking into gravity?
What parts of you,
Spiritual,
Emotional,
Or physical are already tired,
Already calling it a day?
Weary.
Sleepy.
And just be absorbed in the quiet and drawn into the stillness,
Going slowly and more slowly,
More slowly.
Nothing to be done,
Nothing to fret over.
And your body probably wants to go to sleep and you just need to get your mind off the road,
Pull the car to the side and close your eyes.
All those worries,
All those disappointments,
They can be there tomorrow.
Right now,
Your body needs rest and all of those things will seem smaller and easier but again,
You can't work at sleep.
You can only get out of the way.
You can't really work at any meditation except to get out of the way.
So you can start by forgiving.
Lousy things happen every day.
Miserable people make other people miserable.
Sometimes we just bump into things.
Sometimes we get hurt and it feels like it's on purpose and maybe it isn't,
We don't know.
But it's always nice to have a target for our energy and anger and resentment,
So we do that.
But for now,
You can forgive and let go of that target because it's not gonna help you sleep.
Just letting go of any resentments or angers or resistances.
Forgiving,
Just a little.
Practice forgiving.
Pilot program of forgiveness.
It may not last and that's okay but for now,
It'll help you sleep.
And if other people are doing it,
Other people have injured you,
Given you boo-boos,
You probably did the same to someone today or recently.
If you're a little ready to forgive,
Maybe you are a little ready to apologize or just to ask forgiveness to the world at large.
We make mistakes,
We can be broken,
Humble,
Healing and growing people who are not yet there and never will be.
So be okay with that when you go to sleep.
You are continuing.
You are making progress but never have perfection.
May that be acceptable.
Your eyes get heavy.
Your sight grows dim.
The lights get small,
The sounds get quiet,
Your body slows down.
It's all very nice,
Very forgiving and very open.
Nothing bad is gonna happen to you.
Nothing to do,
Nothing to master.
Just letting go.
And sweet dreams ahead.
And maybe even you feel the edges and strangeness of dreams creeping in through the tiredness.
Maybe you have moments when you are not fully conscious even now.
When you take a moment to acknowledge the oneness of all things and the wondrousness of all things that it all started in one place.
It all operates on the same rules and the same sensibility.
There is a unity in our diversity and our expansiveness.
It's profound.
Taking a moment to acknowledge that oneness and let it fill you up with love and appreciation and even gratitude.
This world is a sacred space and we share it with everything,
Even the distant stars.
All part of the same fabric.
And you're sheltered,
Protected,
Given refuge and strength.
You can trust that the world is protecting you and looking out for you.
Safe and healthy through the night.
And great and good forces carry you through the dream world and the even tide and on to where you need to be.
You are sated,
You are full,
You are delivered.
You have strength.
This is all your power,
Your goodness.
And you can breathe in and exhale with the ancient word SELA connecting with generations and millennia of people who have breathed and meditated and slept.
SELA,
Maybe inducing a yawn,
Stretch.
Staying slow,
Staying quiet.
When you get distracted,
Because we do,
And because dreams are out there pulling at us,
Just come back.
Unless you're almost asleep,
Then don't come back.
And you can lie down peacefully.
And when it's time,
You will get up peacefully,
Most peacefully.
Sheltered and shielded,
Protected.
Even rescued.
And you go out with peace,
Out of this day,
And eventually you will come into a new day peacefully.
Not just yet.
Blessed at all moments.
Resting your spirit with the world that loves you and attends to you and knows you.
Now.
Great and good forces follow our footsteps and lead us along.
They preceded us with our ancestors.
They watch over us now.
And great and good forces will endure after us.
Safeguarding us.
Just breathing.
Slow and steady,
Inhale deeply,
Exhale slowly,
Getting distracted,
Coming back.
Dropping into moments of dream and reverie.
Feeling heavy eyelids,
A weighty body in your lying place.
And the universe is blessing you and protecting you.
We're safeguarded.
The universe is looking towards you with grace and kindness and loving kindness.
Take that all in.
Be at peace with it.
And the universe turns toward you,
Looks itself upon you,
And offers you peace and wholeness.
Great,
Abundant peace.
And you may sleep,
But the universe will continue and watch out for you.
And go on in its steady way.
And great and good forces surround you while you sleep.
At your right side,
A great and good force capable of answering questions.
So you can let go of all your doubts and all your concerns and anxieties at your right side.
At your left side,
A great and good force that is strong and powerful.
So all the energy you have to fight or resist,
You can let it down at your left side with that force.
Let it take over.
And when you wander blindly or struggle in a dream,
There is a light held out for you by a great and good force ahead of your bed.
And when you have soreness or injuries or muscle aches or cough,
Great and good force behind you massages healing into your cells.
And all above you and around you,
Presence of a loving universe.
You can just yawn and stretch and sigh,
Even moan.
You can exhale with the ancient word,
Sela.
And this universe is going on.
You may be asleep,
But everything is taking care of itself.
You don't have to worry about it.
You don't have to attend to it anymore.
Universe was,
It is,
It will be glorious and forever,
Mysterious,
Even magical.
No beginning,
No end.
And you have all that you need.
You can lie back and fall deeply into the hand of a loving universe.
Nothing to fear,
Just falling in and go.
Giving in.
