Try closing your eyes to arrive.
Sensing gravity,
The barometric pressure,
The weather,
Temperature,
The space around you,
And then moving gently inward,
Steadily slowing down,
Becoming more still,
Entering a deeper quiet that can't be silent,
But is perturbed by motions,
And breezes,
And rain,
And cats and dogs,
Mechanical noises.
You can let them frustrate you,
Or you can use them as subtle cues to return inward,
To return to self and the body,
And your own experience,
Which is precious.
Take a moment to be grateful and proud that you have committed this time to meditate.
It's not easy to do,
Just to make the time and space in a busy day,
But it has dividends.
It increases our strength,
Vitality,
And resilience throughout the day.
You are blessed to do it.
Maybe you smile a little,
Giving yourself a little joy,
A little kiss at this moment,
Because you are good,
And whole,
And important,
And loved.
Noticing where you are,
How your body feels,
Awake,
Alert,
Drowsy,
Grouchy,
Sore,
Comfortable,
Relaxed,
Warm,
Whatever you feel in your body,
Muscles,
Bones,
Skin,
Organs,
Whatever you can sense.
Just note without evaluating or judging.
Curious about how you are entering this meditation,
Because you haven't been here in a while.
In this meditation we will be,
We will go,
And we will do.
And we'll do it all remaining standing,
Seated,
Or lying down in the same position you are in now.
We will not leave,
But we will gather ourselves to be,
Go,
And do when the time is right.
And when your mind wanders,
Because brains are active,
And if you drift into some anxiety about the future,
Some regret of the past,
Or fantasy,
Just come back.
Find my voice,
Find your body and your breath.
Inhale deeper,
Exhale slower.
Inhaling and exhaling peacefully.
Another gift to self,
Filling your body with oxygen.
Expelling waste.
More of what you need.
Continue to be,
Just be,
Right now,
Right here,
In your body,
Where you are.
Just be.
Enjoying the moments as they come and go.
Just be.
Nothing to accomplish or achieve,
To build or distract.
Just floating in being.
Noticing the environment around you and the environment within you.
Actions and processes.
Depth and ease.
All of it.
Embracing the experience of being.
We'll talk about going and doing next,
But you can always return to being.
If you're not ready to step out,
If you're not ready to take action,
That's great.
Just be.
And meditation can be a gathering of energies and resilience for the going and doing.
That's what we're going to approach now,
But if that's not what you need,
Just be.
What does it feel like to go?
Perhaps to leave your comforts,
To go from your desk home,
To go out for groceries,
Or your accountant,
Vet,
To go to work.
What are those thoughts of going,
Forward motion,
Conjure in you?
How do you experience that idea,
That possibility to go,
Which we do.
We will always go.
No,
Not going.
Is it a relief?
A fear?
Something different or just in between?
Even as you think about go,
You are still being.
Still staying where you are.
Creating foundation for future action and movement.
Taking this time to be.
Taking this time to be.
Even if you imagine go.
Maybe feel the forward momentum of go.
What going is like.
Good,
Bad,
Indifferent,
But full of motion.
Never back.
Breathing and settling.
Being.
Just returning.
Locating yourself at this moment.
Filling yourself with courage and resilience through meditating.
From be and go,
Let's contemplate do.
Maybe you clench up thinking about doing.
Maybe it's an anxiety.
Maybe it's an excitement.
Or just a curiosity.
What could I do next?
Today or in the future?
What will do look like and feel like?
What is the experience of doing?
And as with be and go,
How might you want to feel about it?
What would you like to feel about the act of doing?
Breathe into those possibilities.
Like a prayer.
Do arising out of go and be.
And returning and returning through and through.
And at every stage,
Whether you are going or doing,
You are aware of what you are doing.
You are aware of what you are doing.
You are aware of what you are doing.
At every stage,
Whether you are going or doing,
You are also being.
You are also arriving as self and acting as self in a moment.
They aren't really separate experiences.
Be,
Go,
And do.
They're all you.
Breathe into that.
And open your eyes when you're ready.
Return.
Blessings.
