This is No. 7 of 112 guided meditations from the Vigyan Bhairav Tantra by Shiva. In this practice, you gently connect the third eye (intuition) with the heart, using subtle awareness of the breath to enter deeper states of clarity and presence. Through attention to the intangible breath, the meditation supports conscious sleep, inner insight, and a calm relationship with dreaming and deep rest. The practice also opens the heart through loving-kindness, allowing compassion to expand naturally toward all beings. This meditation is best practiced before sleep and on a half-empty stomach, ideally around 4 hours after your last meal, when the body is light and the mind more receptive. Welcome to this 15-minute meditation journey.

Find a comfortable sitting or lying position and gently close your eyes.

Take a few moments to settle into your body and let go of any tension.

In this meditation,

We will explore a profound technique that allows you to harness the power of the third eye,

The center of intuition and inner vision.

This technique empowers you to master your dreams and gain insight into the nature of death itself.

Let's begin.

Start by bringing your attention to the point between your two eyebrows,

Often called the third eye.

This is the center of intuitive awareness.

Imagine a gentle indigo light glowing in this area,

Radiating calm and clarity.

As you inhale,

Feel the energy gathering at your third eye.

Imagine an intangible,

Invisible breath moving from the center of your forehead down to your heart.

Feel this flow of energy and focus on the sensation it creates.

Now contemplate the significance of this practice.

The intangible breath represents the essence of prana,

The life force that sustains us.

By directing this energy consciously,

We gain mastery over our dreams and even over the process of death itself.

As the intangible breath reaches your heart,

Visualize it intertwining with the heartbeat,

Infusing it with vitality.

Realize that the heart is not merely a physical organ,

But a center of profound wisdom and connection.

Now let's break down the practice into three parts.

Part one,

Feeling the prana flow.

Shift your attention to your breath.

Notice how,

With each inhalation,

You draw in prana,

The life force,

Along with the air.

Focus on the invisible,

Intangible aspect of the breath,

The pranic energy that accompanies it.

Feel it as it enters your body and flows towards the center of your forehead.

Part two,

Awareness at the moment of sleep.

Now consider the significance of this practice during the transition into sleep.

As you lay down to sleep,

Pay attention to the intangible breath between your eyebrows.

This is the moment to practice this technique.

As sleep gradually overtakes your consciousness,

Maintain your awareness on the energy moving from your forehead to your heart.

Allow the gentle flow of prana to accompany you into your dreams.

Part three,

Mastery over dreams and death.

Recognize that becoming aware of dreams is a key element of this practice.

By mastering your dreams,

You gain power over the subtle realms of your mind.

Visualize yourself being aware within a dream,

Conscious that you are in a dream state.

This awareness empowers you to influence the dream's direction or even transform it at will.

Contemplate the idea that Deity is akin to a deep sleep,

A transition into a new existence.

With this technique,

You can gain insights into the nature of death and consciously direct your awareness through this process.

Let's take a moment to integrate the practice.

Imagine a state of deep dreamless sleep.

Feel a sense of serenity and detachment,

Knowing that you have the power to awaken within your dreams and guide their course.

Realize the idea that death is a profound transition,

Much like the journey into sleep,

And that you have the potential to navigate it with awareness and purpose.

Now let's conclude this meditation with a heart-centered practice of loving-kindness.

As you continue to sit or lie comfortably,

Bring your focus to your heart center.

Take a few deep breaths,

Inhaling compassion and exhaling any tensions or worries.

Feel your heart expanding with each breath,

Radiating warmth and love.

Visualize a bright,

Loving light at the center of your chest,

Growing with each inhale.

As you exhale,

Let this light spread throughout your body and into the space around you.

Now,

Silently repeat these words to yourself.

May I be filled with love and compassion.

May I be free from suffering and pain.

May I be well in body and mind.

May I live with ease and joy.

May all beings be filled with love and compassion.

May all beings be free from suffering and pain.

May all beings be well in body and mind.

As you continue to breathe,

Feel the energy of compassion and love flowing through you and reaching out to touch the lives of others.

Stay in this state of open-heartedness for a few more breaths.

When you are ready,

Gently bring your awareness back to your surroundings.

Take a moment to acknowledge the profound connections you've established through this practice.

Thank yourself for this dedicated time of self-care and compassion.

Carry the essence of these practices with you into your day.
