Connecting To Ancestral Intelligence

Dr. Sará King and Orlando Villarraga have collaborated to take us on a healing meditative sonic journey. In this practice, you will be invited to connect compassionately to ancestors past, present, and future; to gently practice becoming the kind of future ancestor you want to be; to heal from fear and cultivate the ability to move in the world in ways that support collective liberation; and to lovingly connect the experience of embodiment with the healing qualities of nature and the Earth as ancestors.

Welcome to a practice for the cultivation of connecting to ancestral intelligence. Ancestral intelligence, Or as my friend Dr. Lonnie Brooks likes to say, The other type of AI is a field that connects us all. It connects us to the wisdom of the ancestors past, Present, And future. When you think to yourself about the fact that you are an ancestor in the making, A future ancestor, What comes to mind? Maybe you begin to think about people in your own life who may have transitioned, Who've inspired you in some way. Or maybe there are people who you've never met in person, Who have inspired you, Or supported you, Or elevated your thinking in some capacity. They too have made the transition. These are the beings who give us so much fodder for thinking about and feeling into the type of future ancestor that we ourselves are becoming. There are a lot of things that are happening right now on our beautiful planet Earth. And some of those things are really cause for concern, Deep concern. We're at this inflection point, Humanity, Where we have some collective decisions to make. Some of us are still living in a paradigm that is very much rooted in domination, Aggression, And violence. And it's probably been said time and time again that moving in the world from this place of fear and separation is pretty much the exact opposite of what is going to move us in the direction of collective liberation. So if you've come to the space of this meditation, Either by yourself or gathered with friends or loved ones, We're going to take a moment and ground ourselves in an act of collective solidarity. In the offering, The invitation here is to take three deep breaths. Inhaling through the nostrils, Exhaling out of the mouth. You can do that at your own pace and rhythm. And when you're done, You can return to a natural cadence and rhythm of breath. Here we have the opportunity to begin noticing, Using our awareness, What energy we have brought with us to the space of this practice. We can attune our awareness in the direction of the experience of the body in this here and now. Notice what is arising and what we are present to. This is a practice about connecting to ancestral intelligence, And so we can begin from noticing that our bodies are a gift, A gift from our ancestors in human form, But also our bodies are a gift from our ancestor, The earth, Their rivers, Their trees, Their mountains. Our bodies are also a gift from the stars, The galaxies, The many, Many universes that are dancing and swirling around that we have access to anytime we should choose to make contact in the space of the heart. Taking one more deep breath in here, Inhaling and exhaling. The invitation here is to notice whatever area of the body is meeting with the earth. What is that relationship like? What is the feeling of gravity, This feeling of relationality? How are you being held?
