Welcome.
I invite you to make yourself comfortable.
Just check in for a moment.
Is there anything you might do right now that will increase your comfort?
Is your body supported?
Do you need a pillow or blanket?
Are you wearing some clothing that binds that you might remove?
Even a watch band?
How's the light in your room,
The temperature?
Take a few moments to make the effort to comfort yourself.
You are worthy of comfort.
How do you know you're comfortable?
Is comfort simply a lack of discomfort or is it something more?
Does your generosity extend fully to yourself?
Do you even allow yourself comfort?
Do you ration it out like crumbs from a miser's table?
Whatever comfort means to you,
Allow yourself to settle into comfort as much as you can.
It might be hard for you and it might take some time.
If you're still on the way there,
Don't worry.
Take what time you need.
Take as long as you need.
Allow yourself that time.
Allow your self-comfort.
You are deserving of comfort,
Ease,
Relaxation.
Whatever words you associate with a state of comfort,
Allow yourself that.
I invite you to make yourself comfortable.
Perhaps for you,
Comfort is expressed primarily through your physical body.
Or maybe comfort is less about the physical and more about the mental or emotional.
By settling into comfort,
You have given your mind permission to process anything it wants.
Try not to push away anything that comes up.
Allow your attention to rest where it is called.
If at some point it feels right,
Let your attention again rest on your comfort,
On being comfortable.
You might allow your attention to rest on a slow and steady breath.
You might imagine your thoughts as fluffy white clouds moving across the sky.
Perhaps as the sky darkens into night,
The blue fading into orange and red and purple ever darkening.
Could comfort be a feeling of calmness,
Of peace,
Serenity?
Watch.
Maybe it is emotions that you feel most strongly as you move into comfort.
Some might be associated with some particular event in your life,
Some person.
Others might be more general.
I feel happy today.
I'm happy to have found comfort.
Perhaps there is a tinge of sadness coloring your thoughts.
Maybe sadness because you don't allow your self-comfort more often.
You might imagine how it would feel to take more comfort in your life,
In the nourishment you consume in your space,
In your relationships,
In the way in which you move to rest.
Can you allow your emotions to express themselves without judging,
Without pushing away,
All from a place of comfort?
Can you feel but also be tender with the one who feels,
With yourself?
Whatever you're feeling right now is right.
Whatever you're feeling is perfect.
You might imagine your feelings as warm ocean waves washing over you and then withdrawing.
The sunset has faded and the ocean of stars is appearing over your head.
Isn't itbowl,
It's melting?
Thank you.
You're welcome here,
Man.
Maybe comfort means that you aren't consciously using any muscles to support yourself,
That something else is holding you up,
That you are being supported in a way you like,
That you are at ease.
You might allow yourself a delicious release throughout your body,
A release that begins with your eyebrows.
Allow the space between your brows to release.
Allow the muscles that hold your eyes to relax.
Then allow your jaw to relax,
To be comfortable.
Your teeth might slightly fall apart.
Your lips might delicately separate,
Perhaps in a barely felt kiss.
Let the release descend through your neck and shoulders.
Let go.
Let what is supporting you take more and more of your weight.
Arms and hands surrender.
Let each exhale release the muscles in your chest.
Your body knows how to breathe.
In the quiet darkness,
Let your stomach release,
Free of binding clothing,
Free of expectation.
Is there any tension in your pelvis,
In your hips,
In your thighs?
Let your breath carry it away.
Let yourself open,
Loosen,
Soften.
Let your knees be comfortable,
Bent or straight,
Together or far apart as you wish.
Shins and calves relax,
Settle,
Discharge the responsibility of supporting you.
You might imagine breathing into your feet,
All the way to the tips of your toes.
Allow some comfort there,
Where your body meets the ground.
Allow your whole body to be soft,
Warm,
Cozy,
Safe.
Let it rest.
