You might sense the air around you like a soft caress on your skin. Perhaps you become aware that the space above you and all around you is filled with life-giving nutrients that you inhale. Know this as the benevolent, loving atmosphere of Earth. The Earth’s great breath surrounds and permeates us always, nourishing and sustaining us. Imagine in your own way, that the air you breathe is saturated with a healing power. Perhaps there is a healing warmth, perhaps a healing light, maybe it is a healing presence that you sense. Open yourself to healing.

Welcome!

This is a meditation for healing,

And to begin,

I invite you to head towards a state of relaxation.

You might fall into it.

You might slide into it.

Maybe gradually approach it,

Inch by inch,

Like you might sneak up on something.

Any way will do,

But move towards relaxation.

And don't worry if it doesn't come right away.

Sometimes it won't.

Use your breath.

Allow your exhales to lengthen,

To carry something away.

Loosen any binding clothing.

Unhook your bra if you're wearing it.

Let your hair down.

Let your scalp relax.

Maybe even take off a watch with a tight band.

Make yourself a nest and snuggle deeper into it.

Take your time,

And we'll begin in 30 seconds.

Allow your attention to roam where it will.

Let it roam across your body,

Into its nooks and crevices.

Let it roam across your mind,

Into its gyri and sucri.

Let what you find inform you,

Teach you,

Perhaps show you a path,

A path towards places in need of healing.

You might sense the air around you like a soft caress on your skin,

That the space above you and all around you is filled with life-giving nutrients that you inhale.

Know this as the benevolent,

Loving atmosphere of Earth.

The Earth's great breath surrounds us and permeates us always,

Nourishing and sustaining us.

Imagine in your own way that the air you breathe is saturated with a healing power.

There's a healing warmth,

Perhaps a healing light.

Maybe it is a healing presence that you sense.

If there is a healing warmth,

Let it fill you,

Warming you from inside,

Perhaps growing stronger,

Burning ever hotter.

Maybe for you this is the tapas of yoga,

A fire within burning away impurities.

If there is a healing light,

Notice its color,

Its brightness.

Your light might grow and grow,

Illuminating dark areas.

Its color might become more intense.

Maybe you sense a healing presence,

Perhaps from outside yourself,

Perhaps simply a distant part of yourself.

Can you welcome it?

Might you join with it?

Can you guide it to places of pain?

However it manifests for you,

You can rest in the healing power.

You can let go.

Let yourself be bathed in this healing atmosphere,

Nurtured in this healing atmosphere.

With each inhalation,

Gently draw from that nourishing presence.

Feel how your blood effortlessly carries that healing quality into your lungs,

Into your bloodstream,

And then into each cell of your body.

You are held by the body,

You are supported by the body of the earth.

Its breath surrounds you.

The breath of the earth nourishing,

Healing.

You are surrounded by that loving presence,

Nurtured in this healing atmosphere.

Each breath gently and effortlessly breathing in,

Receiving,

Deep into your body.

Every cell of your body being nourished,

Healing,

Regenerating,

Entire being permeated,

Touching,

Nourishing,

Making its way everywhere,

To every secret place in your heart.

As you breathe in from the air that surrounds you,

You can infuse the air in each breath with the quality of healing,

The sustenance of nourishment that you need right now.

Breathe it in,

And let it suffuse every part of your body,

Any place that is tired,

Any place that is longing for healing.

With each out-breath,

Let go more and more deeply.

With each in-breath,

Allow yourself to receive more and more deeply.

Receiving,

Releasing,

Softening.

The earth supports your path of rest and healing,

Its breath becoming your breath.

Savor the feelings of relaxation.

Let yourself become more aware of your heart,

What you feel,

Perhaps notice what has changed.

Then you might allow yourself to become more aware of your whole body,

How you feel,

What might have changed,

The position of your legs,

Your arms,

The shape of your body,

The air on your skin.

Then begin perhaps to allow your awareness to shift to your environment.

Feel what's holding you up,

The chair,

The floor.

Gravity is still holding you there,

Gracefully.

Allow yourself the luxury of a long awakening from your meditation.

Maybe you begin now to make some small movements of fingers or toes.

However you like to wake yourself up from a warm bed,

With sunlight streaming through the window.

Come back with tenderness,

Eventually your eyes might open if they have been closed.

Let colors and shapes resolve into the objects around you.
