Hello,
And welcome to this meditation,
Into the Heart.
My name is Beth,
And I'll be guiding you.
If you enjoy this meditation,
I would appreciate your review of it.
And please do follow my profile here.
I'd also like to invite you to a very beautiful space every Sunday here on Insight Timer.
It's called the Energy Healing Cooperative Network.
And it is definitely a heart-filled space.
You can find out more about it through my profile.
Let's continue with the meditation.
So make yourself comfortable,
Whether you decide to sit or lie back.
And once comfortable,
Turn your attention towards your breath.
You need to do nothing but simply watch and feel the expansion with the inhalation and the contraction with the exhalation.
Feel how each inhalation stretches the body gently from the inside.
And how each exhalation is an opportunity to release any tightness or tension in the body.
Feel the pleasure of simply breathing.
The heart emanates an electric field that can extend up to six feet away from the body.
When we're feeling open-hearted,
That's when that emanation reaches its capacity.
And when we are feeling a little more closed down,
That field emanates a little closer to our body.
And now get a sense of the field of your own heart.
If it helps you at this point,
You could just place a few fingers just right at the center of the heart.
Does your heart feel open?
Open to love,
To joy,
To all good things?
Or does it maybe feel a little self-protecting?
A little withdrawn?
Or perhaps even barricaded?
It's all okay because one thing is for sure.
What we feel in one moment changes in the next.
Just like the breath that constantly comes and goes,
The heart is constantly beating through contraction and expansion.
Just witness your own beating heart.
Now call to mind an image or a memory.
Something that opens your heart.
Perhaps it's a place or a thing of beauty.
A beloved pet or family member or friend.
Or simply something that gives you joy.
Allow that memory or image to evoke the emotion of love.
And let that emotion build within the container of your heart.
Take your time.
You can let a gentle,
Small smile to grace your face.
Or simply smile inwardly.
As this feeling grows,
Allow it to spill over the container of the heart.
Let it flood your whole chest.
Allow the feeling of love to sweep through your limbs,
Your head,
Out into the space all around your body.
Just be with the sensations that arise.
Even if that sensation is one of resistance,
It's all okay and you can practice again and again.
Note any sensations of swelling open,
Any fluttering in the ears,
Any tearing in the eyes.
These are all signs of the heart opening.
Opening to express the love that is always in you and opening to receive the love that is always available to you.
Love is not an externally born experience.
It happens from inside.
It's just a matter of where we place our attention.
Science has shown that the heart is its own little brain.
And it contains memory.
And you can use the memory of your happiest moments to relive that feeling,
Those sensations,
In any moment.
It is just a real way.
Let's spend a few minutes now together in silence,
Just witnessing the space of the heart and anything that arises.
A gentle sound of the bell will let you know the meditation has ended but you're welcome to sit with your heart for as long as you wish.
