I am safe to choose myself.
Welcome.
And let yourself arrive.
Find your way down onto your back.
And let this be the moment you stop holding it all together.
There is nothing to fix here,
Nothing to earn,
No one to take care of but you.
Let the floor or the bed take your full weight.
Let it hold you completely so your body can finally settle and set down everything it's been carrying.
Allow your legs to roll open.
Your arms to rest a little away from your sides.
Palms soft and turned up.
Close your eyes and take one long breath in through the nose.
And let it leave slowly through the mouth like a quiet sigh.
And again,
Breathing in what you need,
Letting go of who you thought you had to be today.
Let the body grow heavy.
Let the face grow soft.
We're planting a single,
Quiet seed today.
A sentence the deepest part of you already knows is true.
I am safe to choose myself.
You don't have to believe it yet.
You only have to let it be heard.
Say it gently in your own voice,
In your own mind.
I am safe to choose myself.
Let the words sink beneath the thinking mind.
We'll return to them at the end.
Now we'll move attention slowly through the body.
Nothing to do but notice.
Where attention goes,
Tension softens.
Bring your awareness to the crown of your head and let it soften.
The forehead smoothing,
The space between the eyebrows releasing.
The eyes heavy in their sockets,
The jaw unclenching.
Let the teeth part.
The throat softening.
This is where so many women learn to swallow their own needs.
Let it open.
Let it rest.
The shoulders melting down and away from the ears.
The arms growing heavy all the way to the palms,
To the fingertips.
The chest rising and falling on its own.
The heart simply beating faithfully for you.
The belly's soft.
Let it expand with the breath instead of holding it in.
You are allowed to take up space.
The hips releasing their grip,
The legs heavy.
The feet completely at rest.
Feel the whole body now.
Head to toe.
Health.
Heavy,
Safe.
Bring your attention to your breath.
Just as it is.
Not changing it.
Only feeling it.
Notice the cool air entering.
The warm air leaving.
Now silently count each breath backward from seven,
Letting each number sink you a little deeper.
Breathing in seven,
Breathing out seven.
Breathing in six.
And 06.
Bye.
For Three.
Too.
One.
Resting now in the still,
Quiet space underneath the breath.
From this quiet place,
Let an image rise gently in the mind.
Picture yourself standing at a calm crossing.
A soft fork in a path.
For so long,
One road has led toward everyone else's needs,
Their comfort,
Their approval.
You know that road well.
You could walk it in your sleep.
But today,
There is another path.
One that turns toward you.
Notice if any fear arises as you look at it.
Any old voice that says choosing yourself is selfish.
Or ungrateful.
Or too much.
Let that voice be here without arguing with it.
Then,
Let a deeper truth answer it,
Slowly.
Choosing myself does not take away from anyone.
It gives them the truest version of me.
See yourself taking one step onto your path.
Just one.
Feel the ground beneath that foot,
Solid,
Steady,
Holding you.
Nothing collapses.
No one is harmed.
The earth stays firm beneath you.
You are still safe.
You are more safe because now you are walking with yourself,
Not away from yourself.
Let that steady ground move up through your whole body,
A quiet,
Settled knowing.
I am allowed to want what I want.
I am allowed to choose.
I am safe here.
Once more,
Let the seed sentence return,
Landing in this open,
Softened ground.
I am safe to choose myself.
I am safe to choose myself.
I am safe to choose myself.
Let it be a fact,
Not a wish.
Let it settle into the body like warmth into stone.
Begin to let the breath deepen.
Just a little.
Inviting gentle movement back.
Become aware of the surface beneath you again.
The room around you.
The sounds at its edges.
Wiggle your fingers and your toes.
Let movement return at its own pace.
Draw a slow breath into the whole body and stretch in any way that feels good.
When you're ready,
No rush.
Let your eyes softly open.
Carry the truth with you as you return to your day.
I am safe to choose myself.
And I always have been.
Namaste.
