In times of great uncertainty, we forget that change is constant and we begin to grasp, crave and attach to permanence rather than accept the natural flow of life. Can we find a way to embrace, accept and sit with fear, uncertainty and change? Can we use our meditation and mindfulness practice to strengthen our inherent faith in how the journey of our lives will ultimately unfold? Join this meditation to reconnect to presence, and regain your trust in the divine process. Enjoy!

Hey everyone and welcome to my embracing uncertainty meditation.

I think it's fair to say that at this time in our lives we are facing a lot of instability,

Perhaps some insecurity in our future,

Uncertainty about how things may unfold,

And rather than fight against it,

Perhaps we can find a way to sit with it,

Perhaps we can find a way to befriend it,

And maybe if we continue in this practice of awareness around the uncertainty,

We can eventually come to embrace it.

We can come into a deep place of knowing that the uncertainty in our lives,

In the world,

Is a part of us,

And then we come to accept it.

And if we really think about it,

What can we really hold as true and certain?

Not many things.

We've all heard the famous saying that change is the only constant.

What I love is using nature as a guide,

As an example,

Because she's always changing.

Trees are always changing,

The leaves are always changing.

We see that beautiful cycle of birth,

Of perseverance,

Of death,

And again birth,

Sustenance,

And death,

Constantly in the natural world around us.

But then for some reason,

When it comes to ourselves,

We really want to hold on and fixate and grab and grasp onto this idea of permanence,

That the situation we're in now should remain the same forever,

That the body that we're inhabiting should remain the same forever,

That the colour of our hair won't change,

That the people in our lives won't change.

But we all know deep down,

That's not the real truth.

So come to find a comfortable seated position,

Maybe on the floor,

On a chair,

On a cushion.

Support the back if it needs support,

And close the eyes.

Sitting up nice and tall through the spine,

Allowing the crown of the head to lift and lengthen up towards the ceiling.

And at the same time,

Feeling the weight of the hips,

The thighs,

The legs,

The sit bones rooting you down into the earth.

Feel the earth beneath you,

Supporting you as you sit here,

Without asking for anything in return.

She keeps you uplifted and upright.

Turning your awareness to the natural rhythm of your own breath.

Noticing how the air flows in through the nostrils and out.

If there's any feelings of tension or anxiety in the body,

Welcome everything in.

Welcome the thoughts,

The fears,

The emotions.

Embrace the sensations in the physical form,

The vibrations in the subtle body,

The fluctuations of the mind.

Complete acceptance of exactly who you are,

At this time,

In this moment.

Maybe you can bring to mind this concept of faith.

This idea that although we know that uncertainty and change and flow and movement and birth and death are constants,

That perhaps we can bring faith into this equation as well.

That no matter what,

Things are going to be okay and things will unfold as they are meant to be.

Perhaps we can let go of some of the fear that we have around change and uncertainty.

We can drop a little bit our craving for certainty,

Our craving for permanence.

And can we anchor down into stability,

Into faith by finding those qualities within ourselves?

We can't control the external environment around us,

But we can control our internal environment.

We can control our response and our reaction.

We can choose peace.

We can choose tranquility.

We can choose calm.

And although those qualities might not arrive immediately in our hearts,

In our minds,

In our bodies,

But maybe with practice over time,

We start to feel the shift.

Maybe repeating those words,

Calm,

Faith,

Tranquility,

Peace.

Calm,

Faith,

Tranquility,

Peace.

Faith,

Acceptance.

Embrace it all.

Embrace this life,

This moment,

This experience that you are having right here and now,

Because it's temporary.

It will pass.

Have faith that it too shall pass.

Trust that this process was meant exactly for you and for all of us sharing this experience together.

Coming back to the breath,

Tuning back in to the subtle inhalations and exhalations,

To the appreciation that you are alive here and now breathing.

You're able to be here and present in this moment,

To sit in this meditation,

To take this time for yourself.

And perhaps you can bring the hands onto the heart,

Or maybe you can even wrap the arms around the shoulders,

Taking a moment here to bring in a gesture of self-love,

Of self-reassurance.

And perhaps the people around us aren't able to give us that assurance,

And so we have to give it to ourselves.

Giving ourselves this time,

This practice.

Taking a full breath in through the nose,

And a cleansing breath out through the mouth.

And again,

Inhaling through the nose.

Exhaling.

Last one here,

Inhale.

And exhale.

Gently fluttering the eyes open,

Coming back into the space around you.

Thank you all so much for joining me.

Namaste and I'll see you and speak to you all soon.
