#9 How To Be Your Own Master? | Yoga Sutra's Of Patanjali
Your body is the master of your physical experiences, your mind is the master of your mental experiences, your heart is the master of emotional experience. But there is something in you which is the master of it all. That is your consciousness. You are that. Recognize that. Patanjali says that you are the master of the masters. Recognize that. ====== Join me in a 30 min meditation session every day at 7 AM CET on my website.

Namaste and a very warm welcome to all of you in this daily morning live meditation session with me the answer my salutations to yoga to the knowledge of yoga to Patanjali and to this opportunity of sharing of going into this knowledge together with you all.
Yoga is a science of liberation and on this path there are four different mountains to be climbed.
We are right now climbing the first mountain which is to have a perception to have that clarity in perception a state of mind a state of being with which we can see clearly because unless we can see clearly unless we can understand unless we can we have the apparatus ready to realize no matter how deep we go no matter how high we go we will not be able to understand will not be able to realize will not be able to experience.
So Patanjali prepares in the early stages already his people who are going through this Sutra into into the state of Samadhi into a state of clarity in perception clarity in mind so that when they experience their depths when they experience their heights they don't miss that they don't take it only as a theoretical concept but really as an experiential reality as something that has to be validated in one's own experience.
Let us go through the sutras for today.
Sa purvesham api guru kaolinana vatchhedat what that means is being beyond the limits of time he is the master of masters.
Tasya vakah pranava he is known as om tajipas tadartha bhavanam in constant repetition and meditation on its meaning and feeling.
What do these sutras mean what do they indicate the first thing Patanjali is saying the one who is the master of masters he's the one beyond the limits of time see that our body is a master the experience the physical experience is governed by the body the psychological experience is governed by the mind so mind is also a master our heart is also a master of our emotional experiences but there is one master of the masters which determine the experience of the body experience also of the mind also of the heart of everything of all your experiences there is a master of the master within you if you access that if you're able to realize that you have mastery over everything you don't need to just become the master of the body master of the mind master of your heart master of any other aspect of your life you just need to access that master of masters once you are in the presence of that master of masters once you are in connection with that master of masters once you have that realization of that master of masters within you then everything all the experience is in your control is in your maneuver and here Patanjali is giving a hint that this master of masters to access that he's beyond the limits of time that's another fundamental thing to understand that our body it's tied to time there is a limited time for which we have this body our mind is also tied to time if you see the mind is constantly in the past in the present in the future there is a sense of time with which the mind is constantly operating if you take that sense of time away mind stops functioning so there is something that is even beyond the time that master of masters within you he's beyond the time that's what Patanjali is saying so we have to somehow break out of the time to be that master of masters here we somewhat have to challenge our understanding of time not the chronological time but the psychological time that we constantly are experiencing we say we are living in the past present and future our mind is constantly in the past or in the future is never in the present moment and everybody is preaching to be in this present moment what does that mean and why is that significant see that in our imagination in our visualization in our sense of time we understand time as something linear that there is a past there is a present which is the moment of right now you're listening to me right now and then there is a moment of future which has not yet happened this is a linear model of time if you visualize time not as linear but as circular or as a sphere you see that you are always on the surface on the time and past present future they all are somewhat the same there is no real movement when you are on the circle what was if you are moving within or on the periphery of the circle what seems to be the future was actually the past so if you look at in yoga the word for time is kala the word for past and future is kala same word for the past same word for the future to very clearly indicate that when you are in past or you are in future you are on the same you're not on in two different parts of time you're in the same time and when we say we are in the present it's still you're still on the periphery of time you may not move into the future into the past being in the present simply means there is no movement of your mind on time so that's that has its own significance that when you are in the present moment when your mind is not in movement when your mind is in silence is not going into the future into the past you feel the presence you feel yourself for the first time otherwise you're just busy otherwise you're just occupied so when you're in the present moment for the first time you experience all other all other parts are are just a dream a state of dream where you are dreaming of the future or you're dreaming of the past but patanjali does not stop there he says as long as you're on the time you're not yet the master of the master to be the master of the master you have to penetrate the time you have to the cheda the penetration of time you have to burst out of time and where would you land when you burst out of the time you would land in the center you would be in the center not in the periphery see the time is circular or spherical and as long as you are with the body as long as you're with the mind as long as you are on these physical psychological dimensions you're always on the sphere so you have to take a jump from time to the center to your consciousness to your being which is neither physical nor psychological nor emotional which is a state beyond time beyond all these explanations that we have for ourselves of the physical mental psychological emotional and so on the only way to validate that is experience the only way to validate that is in the silence in the awareness once you go to your inner depths you take a jump from the periphery to the center from the time to the timeless where the sense of time is left behind with the body where the sense of time is left behind with the mind and you are there in your being without any movement without any sense of time.
In order to reach to the center here Patanjali gives a technique he gives the formula he's not just showing where to go but he's also giving a concrete way to go he's saying repeat and meditate on Om.
Om the primordial sound Om the sound of silence Om the sound of no movement everything else all other sounds all what you hear is the sound of movements is the sound of time is the sound of the physical is the sound of the psychological is the sound of the emotional but Om is beyond all that Om is the sound of your being Om is the sound of your consciousness of your true self of the truth in you of that masters of master in you for today's session we will chant Om once again if you wish you can chant along with me or simply listen and be with the vibrations with the reverberations of Om and allow yourself to dissolve to melt to let go of the physical mental emotional all these layers of your self and put them aside get into the sound and travel with this sound of Om travel with this mantra of Om to the core to the deepest core of yourself into where you are the master of the masters.
In this chanting in the beginning I will repeat Om one after the other and after few repetitions I'll increase the gap after every Om in the chant of Om let go of everything in the silence in the gap between two Om's experience be aware be aware of the silence be aware of that being be aware of your depths so we'll gradually increase these depths between two repetitions of Om increasing the gap of silence and go all the way until there is only silence with that please close your eyes take a posture that is comfortable for you with your back upright awareness inwards allowing your body to settle allowing your mind to settle we'll begin chanting Om Om Om Om bringing all your energy into the vibrations of Om Om Om Om be aware of the silence after every Om Om Om Om Om Om Om Om be aware of the silence Om Om the silence of your inner depths Om Om Om Om Om Om awareness inwards on your inner silence inwards on your inner silence in this state in this depth in this presence this timelessness recognize realize experience this if you wish sit longer in this meditative silence keep your eyes closed remain aware,
Remain silent or very gently and slowly you may open your eyes,
Remaining aware of this state,
Remaining aware of this presence,
Remaining aware of this sense of timelessness while you are centered in your being.
Take this to your day and I'll see you tomorrow at 7 a.
