Mindfulness practice six.
We are more than the bodies that hold us.
If it is available to you,
Close your eyes for a moment.
If not,
Look down.
Get still and focus on your breath.
With your eyes closed or gaze down,
Try to feel your skin.
Try to feel where your body ends and the air around you begins.
If there is a breeze,
You might feel it on your skin.
But absent a breeze,
It is very difficult to know for sure where your skin is.
If that's the case,
Then maybe your source,
Inspired self,
Or essence,
Or who you really are,
Goes beyond your skin.
Now imagine you are light and that light is so bright it goes well beyond your skin.
Your rays extend in every direction,
Touching everyone you come in contact with.
You are so bright you reflect the light in everyone else.
Your energy vibrates outward and when you are awake and aware of it,
You notice people are drawn to you,
Smiling at you seemingly for no reason.
How does it feel in your body to know this is who or what you really are?
What if you went through your day with this knowing,
Continually experiencing your conscious awareness?
How might it change or transform your sense of self?
Might it alter how you show up in any room you enter?
How might it affect how you see or interact with others?
When you're ready,
Take another deep breath and flutter your eyes open if they are closed.
Stretch your body and take a moment to transition your focus back into the room.
Welcome back.
Feel free to journal now about your experience or about any ideas or insights that arose for you.
