You can feel free to lower the eyes to a soft gaze if you are uncomfortable by closing your eyes.
And so as we first begin here,
Let's just start by bringing ourselves into the room.
And so maybe you're going to just begin by listening to the sounds you might hear around you.
Allowing those sounds to come to you,
Not analyzing them,
Just being open and gently listening.
And then as we start to turn our attention inward,
We're going to use the breath as our anchor to this present moment.
Just simply begin to notice your inhale and your exhale.
You don't need to change it or make it longer or deeper.
However you're breathing right now is perfectly fine,
So just noticing.
And then specifically,
I want you to bring your awareness into your belly.
And we'll begin to now notice our inhale and exhale in this area.
And so what you might notice is when you inhale,
The belly expands.
It'll rise if you're lying down.
And then when you exhale,
Just like a balloon,
The belly gently deflates.
We're going to begin to count our exhales,
Starting with the number 10,
Moving our way back to zero.
And with each count,
The number backwards,
We will begin to release,
Surrender,
Let go a little bit more than the number before.
And so whenever you're ready,
Inhaling.
And then exhale 10,
Let go.
And continuing to inhale.
And as you exhale 9,
Let go a little bit more than 10.
Make your way all the way down to zero.
Allowing the body to soften and surrender.
And then once you reach zero,
Letting go of the attention to the breath.
Expanding the awareness to the physical body.
Noticing if maybe you feel a bit more settled.
Even maybe perhaps the body's a bit heavier.
And at this moment,
I want to call to mind our year of 2020.
Maybe even when I just ask that question or just say that,
You start to invoke some physical sensations.
Before we set our intention for the next year,
I want you to start with a heart of gratitude for 2020.
Thinking of moments that brought you joy.
New experiences.
Experiences that created growth within.
It is said that if intention is the seed,
Gratitude is the fertile soil for which it flourishes.
And when you think about 2020,
Feeling that gratitude,
Noticing the physical sensations associated with that gratitude.
Maybe your shoulders released or you smiled and felt lighter.
And from this deep place of gratitude,
We will set an intention for the next year.
Creating a phrase,
A felt sense that you can see and feel.
Just go with the first thing that comes to you.
You don't need to perfect it right now.
Seeing yourself accomplishing that goal.
Knowing that will it happen.
And feeling it.
And sitting with that intention for a couple moments of silence.
Allowing yourself to feel the sensations related to it.
And seeing it play out just as it should.
And now I want you to place that intention inside your heart center.
Your heart center is located at the very center of your chest,
Next to your physical heart.
Trusting that this intention will arrive at the perfect moment.
That it will happen exactly how it is supposed to.
And releasing and surrendering to the time in the way that it will play out.
And as you place it in your heart center,
Inhaling into this space,
I surrender.
And exhaling,
I trust.
Maybe even feeling your intention glowing as you release any grip associated with this intention.
Continuing to inhale,
I surrender.
And exhale,
I trust.
And as you surrender and trust to your intention,
Imagining as if you are placing in this heart center and there is a light shining from your intention.
The energy from this intention continues to radiate and shine from your heart center.
This beautiful,
Bright light.
The light radiates up through the throat,
Through the face,
To the top of the head.
The bright light travels through your shoulders,
Down your arms,
Into your fingertips.
And that brilliant,
Beautiful light continues to permeate your entire body.
Now lowering from the heart center through your torso.
Feeling the front and the back of the body.
Continuing to lower down through your belly.
Making its way to your heart center.
All the way down to your hips.
All the way into the soles of your feet.
Feeling the intention brightening the entire body.
Allowing yourself to stay within this light.
Feeling a sense of peace and tranquility associated with your intention.
A sense of surrendering and trusting.
Faith and love associated with it.
Knowing that you are fully taken care of.
Knowing it will happen exactly how it should.
Staying in this place.
Staying in this light of the body.
This place of peace and surrender.
And as we stay here,
If your mind wanders at any moment,
You can always come back to the breath.
Or you can always come back to inhaling the I surrender.
And I trust.
Staying within that gratitude and a heart of compassion for yourself.
And then gently beginning to bring your attention back into your breath.
You were not there.
Noticing how your physical body is feeling.
Noticing if there was any changes from when we first began this class.
Maybe perhaps areas that were tight are a little less tight.
Maybe now you have a little bit more room for seeing the areas in the body that are softening or relaxed.
Just seeing what there is to notice.
Maybe even you feel that you're a little bit more connected to the surface below you.
Or your breath is slower.
Or your mind has settled.
Even just still flows a little bit.
And then expanding our awareness to the sound you might hear around us again.
If you are lying down on your back,
You can stack one hand on your heart center,
The other on top.
If you're seated and this feels right for you right now,
You can do the same.
Or you can bring your hands into prayer position if you're seated,
Right in front of the heart center.
With your hands located on top of your heart chakra,
Your heart center,
Come back to that intention that you set.
I want you to see it and feel it again.
And storing it in this place.
Knowing that you can always just come back to it.
Even by just placing a hand on your heart.
Or just bringing your awareness to that area.
And in this place,
One more time,
Feeling a sense of gratitude for where we have come from at the very beginning of 2020 until now.
No matter what it might have been.
And from these heart centers,
Allowing ourselves to feel that sense of peace,
Clarity,
As we move on to the next year.
From your heart center,
I want you to send love to someone who might need it right now or who you love deeply.
Sending them well wishes.
Sending them gratitude.
Or even just sending them peace.
And then doing the exact same thing for yourself.
Sending love to yourself.
You're probably working very hard this year.
We have made it to the end of the year.
And I wish you nothing but joy and happiness.
And that those moments that cause us to be uncomfortable,
I hope you find growth.
Self-discovery.
From my heart space to each of yours,
I am deeply grateful that you have spent your last day of 2020 with me.
Namaste.
