Today's consideration.
I can't imagine a worse situation than knowing who God is,
Knowing his works,
And then still choosing to worship other gods.
And then to give these other gods credit for God's goodness,
And then to decide to redouble efforts to worship these false gods when life starts going down hill rather than return to God.
As terrible as this is,
This is the selfish nature.
The tendency to want to believe that your life is under your control and that's why you've been blessed.
It's funny that no one ever blames themselves for when things start to go wrong.
When you know God,
Reject him,
And attempt to replace him with other gods,
He will attempt to lovingly correct you.
He sends warnings,
Reminders,
Messages of encouragement to return to him.
A flat out refusal invokes God to remove all blessings and all influences you've had in this life.
So be careful that you don't replace God with idols.
Idols can be education,
Worldly rules,
Desires fulfilled by any means necessary.
These idols have no power.
God has demonstrated time and again that he can take a small demonstration of faith and multiply it exponentially such that one's cup will overflow.
