Hey there.
The poem I'm going to read to you today is about listening deeply and knowing yourself.
The Quiet Poem by Christy Cerullo If you let yourself be quiet,
I mean really quiet,
Can hear the sound of your weariness sighing quiet.
Could trace the map of your veins at work quiet.
If you made yourself be quiet,
Maybe you would hear someone else's thoughts for once.
Not like a crazy person awakening from terror to new terror.
More like a song on the radio that makes your body sway and your old mind and its many fences drift away.
You could watch your skin unsheath itself and drape over a chair.
Let your eyes open and open and open.
If you're really brave and very quiet,
You can feel your heart begin to stir.
Peer out of its many doors with many locks.
Tell itself it looks nice out today and lay itself out under a new sun.
All this to say,
If you speak,
You will just use the same words you always have.
Most of which do not matter,
Do not nourish,
Are not kind.
If you let yourself be quiet,
I mean stupid quiet,
Can't tell if you're in a coma or not quiet.
Can feel the perimeter of your little body disappear quiet.
Maybe you will learn a better way of making noise.
