A short meditation for when life feels crazy and you just want to come back to yourself. You don’t need to have stillness and quiet to begin this practice, but I will gently guide you there using breath, movement, and visualizations. No matter where you are, if you’re in your body, you are home.

Let's get centered.

If you don't know what that means,

That's okay.

We're gonna find it together.

Great job showing up for meditation today.

You're already doing really good wherever you are.

If you're able just to listen,

If you're able to follow along,

Just do whatever you are able to today.

So with your eyes open,

I'll invite you to ask your body,

What wants to move?

And then move.

Maybe your arms want a good stretch.

Maybe your legs want to kick a little bit.

Maybe you want to give yourself a scalp massage.

Moving our body helps to move energy.

And we're not just moving our body,

We're also helping move out energy that would otherwise distract us if we were to just sit right down and go right into a still quiet meditation.

I know for me sometimes I sit down to meditate and there's energy sitting on my eyes and I need to rub my eyes just to be able to sit with my eyes closed and feel comfortable.

So notice where energy might be sitting or stuck in your body and give it a little wiggle,

Give it a little love.

It can be hard to find our center if there are other things or other people vying for our attention in our space.

So if you notice any of that,

Any thoughts or to-dos or other people's energy in your space,

Use your arms to swat any of that away that might be trying to distract you and you can literally wave your arms and swat it away or kick it away.

Great job.

Great job claiming your space.

When you're ready you can let your hands rest in your lap.

You can keep your eyes open or close them and I'll invite you to take three deep breaths.

But for these breaths I want you to think about starting with the exhale.

Start each cycle of breath on the exhale and exaggerate that exhale.

Pretend like you're scuba diving and you're really pushing all the air out so you can sink deeper into the water.

Every exhale brings you deeper into yourself,

Closer to your center.

Continue breathing like this,

Focusing on exhaling,

Releasing,

Pushing all the air out,

Emptying your lungs completely before taking the next breath.

And with each one you're sinking deeper and deeper into yourself.

We're going to keep going until you hit the ocean floor of yourself.

So you exhale,

It gets a little bit darker.

You exhale,

It gets a little bit quieter.

Exhale,

There's even more stillness and you find a silence within yourself.

Allow yourself to reach the very bottom and just breathe.

You can stay here as long as it feels good to do so.

If you feel yourself getting distracted,

Just use your breath in the same way,

Exhaling deeper and deeper,

Coming back to this space.

And you can come back here whenever you want to find your center.

Take good care of yourself.
