Good morning and welcome to The Artist's Morning.
My name is Darius and our meditation practice today is going to be a bit different.
Every few months I like to do a meditation that has no music and very little guidance.
Now I know from the comments and the reviews on these types of meditations from the past that a portion of you find them very challenging and I want to say sometimes that is the point.
To create a safe container to step into something that is on the edge or just beyond our comfort zone can be a very productive and expansive experience.
Now I also know some of you will reach out and tell me that the meditations without music can also deepen the experience.
Whatever shows up for you,
Whatever experience you have,
I believe there is something for us here.
Let's begin our meditation today.
I'd like to invite you into the practice of doing nothing.
Notice what happens when you are invited to do nothing.
Notice what it's like in your internal system when my voice goes away and there is no more guidance.
There is no right or wrong way of doing this.
Each time you do this meditation something different might come up for you.
All that matters is what's here now.
What happens in your mind,
Body,
And heart when my voice goes away?
Is there a tactic that activates?
Is there joy that shows up?
Is there fear that shows up?
Does your system start to look for ways to make you feel less,
Feel better?
How long can you stay with the silence and the stillness?
Maybe it's two seconds.
Maybe it's longer.
How long can you stay with whatever feeling is most active and dominant in your system?
What's on the other side of that feeling you are having right now?
If you were able to stay with it and not try to change it,
Hold on to it,
Get rid of it,
Just be here with it.
What's on the other side?
What happens to it when you bring your deepest presence?
If your mind is very active here,
I'd like to invite you to allow it to be exactly as it is.
No need to change it.
No need to negotiate with your mind.
The invitation today is to do nothing and allow whatever is here and alive inside you to be.
In this last minute of our meditation this morning,
I'd like us to begin again to let go of anything that we've done or anything that's happened since we started this meditation and start fresh in this moment.
One last opportunity to connect to what's alive in us this morning.
To close our meditation this morning,
I'd like to invite us to take one deep conscious breath together.
Breathing in,
Holding at the top,
And letting it go.
Bravo,
Dear artist.
Bravo,
Dear creator.
These meditations can be very challenging and once again,
Sometimes that's exactly the point.
By doing things that are challenging,
By carving out time for ourselves to listen,
To be here with what's real,
What's honest,
What's alive inside us,
Can be one of the most important things we can do as humans,
As souls,
As artists,
And sometimes it's not easy.
For those joining live at the artist morning,
I'm gonna put 20 minutes on the clock and allow us to continue the journey by finding our journals and doing some private personal journaling.
Things you might want to explore are what came up for you,
What was alive inside you,
What happens when things get quiet and still,
What happens when the guidance goes away,
Not just in this meditation but in life.
For those joining us on a replay,
Perhaps on Insight Timer,
Of course you can do the same.
Find your journal and take some of those prompts for a spin and see what comes up.
Thank you for meditating with me.
My name is Darius and I will see you next time.
