Hello my friends.
Welcome to the space.
We are here to spend some time talking and also meditating together today.
So even as I share a story,
Even as I talk,
I want you to get into a comfortable position.
Maybe this means taking a break from what you've been doing all morning,
All afternoon,
All day.
Find a space that just allows you to relax a bit more than you are.
It might be opening up the palms.
You could certainly close the eyes.
Lower the shoulders away from the ears and clench the jaw.
All of the things that we often do together to just release some tension in the body.
And then take a big breath in with me.
Draw it in deep.
Pull it in through the nose.
And then sigh it out of the mouth.
I'd like to share a story with you.
This is a story that's been told many different times in many different ways.
And one of my favorite ways or times is from Wayne Dyer.
And the story goes that there is a gentleman inside of a house.
He has his keys in his hands because he's going to go away.
He's going to drive to a friend's house.
And it happens to be nighttime.
They're having a night rendezvous.
And all of a sudden the power goes out.
And so all of the lights in the house turn off.
And this gentleman,
He accidentally drops his keys.
Well,
Once they drop,
Especially in the dark,
He can't seem to find them.
And so he happens to look outside and he notices that the electricity outside is still on.
There's a street lamp outside and it's shining down a little bit on the road,
A little bit on the sidewalk.
And so he says to himself,
Oh,
I will go look for my keys there.
So he wanders outside and he goes underneath of the street lamp and he starts looking for his keys.
And not too long after,
His neighbor comes out and asks him what he's doing.
And he says,
I'm looking for my keys.
I dropped them.
And so the neighbor says,
Of course,
That he will help.
And so there are two people here looking under the street lamp for these keys.
Well,
After a while of not finding them,
The neighbor says,
Well,
Where did you drop them exactly?
And the gentleman says,
Inside the house.
And the neighbor kind of giggles and he said,
Well,
Why are we looking out here under the street lamp?
The gentleman says,
Well,
It was light out here and I couldn't see inside.
So I thought I would look in the light.
And although this is such a silly story,
Right,
It is something that is so applicable to our lives.
It is something that happens over and over again where we sort of get timid looking into the dark.
We hesitate to turn inward and we often go outside to find the answers that really,
Really are inside.
Sometimes this takes a very intentional pause.
Sometimes it takes someone else asking us,
Why are we looking elsewhere when the answers are inside?
But what I'd like you to do today is to close your eyes,
If they're not already closed,
Or find that soft gaze that we reference a lot,
Just a soft gaze somewhere where your eyes aren't shifting around to a million different places.
I want you to ask yourself,
What have you been looking for outside that really,
Really exists inside?
What answers have you been searching for outside of yourself,
Knowing that the truth of those answers exists within?
And I want you to take a moment here with that question.
Notice the response that your body has,
Your heart,
The energy.
Notice what changes,
What shifts.
Maybe there's something very particular that comes to mind right away.
We turn our attention inward.
And we start looking inside.
We start listening to our own truths.
We start digging into the dark places,
Shadows,
The cave.
We start doing this because we dropped the keys inside of the house.
We dropped them,
And we didn't know where to look.
But now we do.
Keep tuning into your body.
Tuning into your heart.
Tuning into that inner voice.
Tuning into your internal rhythms.
Tuning into the answers.
We can always return inward.
We have this opportunity all day long to shift our focus from outside to inside,
From underneath of that streetlamp to inside of the house.
And so as you go throughout your day today,
Or maybe it's at night and you can put this focus on tomorrow,
As you go,
Keep shifting inward.
Keep tuning in.
Because what you are looking for,
What you are seeking,
What you are searching for,
It's inside.
Let's take a deep breath together.
Big inhale through the nose.
And big sigh out of the mouth.
And you are always welcome to linger in this space a bit.
But I will end our time together and look forward to being with you again soon.
From my heart to yours.
Namaste.
