Hi,
I'm Dana Mitchell,
And as we get started,
I want to ask you a question.
Did your brain get to work before you did this morning?
And I'm not talking about the good kind of work,
The kind where before your feet hit the ground,
It was already rehearsing what could go sideways for you for today.
The people who might disappoint you,
The tasks that you want to skip,
The day that is about to ask a whole lot from you before you've even had a single moment to yourself,
That heavy preloaded feeling like you're already behind before your day has gotten started.
That's what we're going to gently shift right now together in the next few minutes.
So before we go anywhere with this,
I want to check in because your body knows how you're feeling before your brain has found words to describe it.
So let's take one deep breath in and just notice what is going on.
So if you'll take a deep breath in through your nose and blow it out through your mouth and begin to notice,
Is there tension anywhere?
Are your shoulders up around your ears?
Is there a tightness in your chest or maybe a tightness in your stomach?
Maybe your jaw is already bracing for something.
You don't know what,
But for something.
Just quietly name what you were noticing without judgment.
We're just seeing where we're starting from so that we can see how far we've come by the end of this recording.
Now here's what I want to do with all of what you have just gathered.
We are going to make a little shift with something I call Just for Today Affirmations.
I'm going to say each one twice,
Just in case you don't catch it the first time,
And I want you to say it with me,
Either in your head or out loud.
And here's the key.
Say it like you mean it,
Especially if you are not feeling it yet.
And that's really actually the whole point.
We're giving your brain a new direction to move in.
All right,
So here we go.
Just for today,
I will embrace my day as if it's already amazing,
Even if I'm not quite feeling it yet.
Just for today,
I will embrace my day as if it's already amazing,
Even if I'm not quite feeling it yet.
Just for today,
I will take each moment as it comes without guessing at the outcomes.
Just for today,
I will take each moment as it comes without guessing at the outcomes.
Just for today,
Today's events are already lining up in my favor,
Even if my body hasn't caught up with it yet.
Just for today,
Today's events are already lining up in my favor,
Even if my body hasn't caught up with it yet.
Just for today,
I expect at least one good surprise that I didn't see coming,
And I am here for it.
Just for today,
I expect at least one good surprise that I didn't see coming,
And I am here for it.
And here's our last one.
Just for today,
I am choosing my direction,
And my direction is forward.
Just for today,
I am choosing my direction,
And my direction is forward.
Now,
Here's your one thing for today.
Sometimes it feels impossible to find that next level when you're already having a really heavy morning.
So,
I have a quick story for you.
My daughter came home from her friend's house one day,
And she was little,
And she came home all excited,
Totally lit up.
Her friend's mom had played a game with him in the car.
Looking for yellow cars,
One point per car.
Simple,
Simple game.
And that game has lived in our family ever since.
We've expanded it.
Purple cars,
Cyber trucks,
Anything rare.
And what I've noticed every single time we've taught this game to somebody else or we've played it,
Once you're looking for yellow cars,
You find them everywhere.
And they were always there,
You just were not looking for them.
And that's exactly how this works.
So,
Let's find your yellow car moment.
I want you to ask yourself,
What is one thing right now today that feels good,
Happy,
Or light?
Not life-changing or amazing.
This is just one yellow car that we're looking for.
Maybe it's the quiet time that you get before everybody wakes up.
Maybe it's the sound or smell or something different.
Maybe it's the sound of a car.
Maybe it's the smell of a car.
Maybe it's the sound of a bird outside the window.
Maybe it's the birds chirping.
Maybe it's the fact that you're here right now choosing to start your day a little bit differently.
So,
I want you to find it,
Whatever it is,
And say it to yourself.
That is your yellow car for today.
So,
Let's go back to that body check-in that you did in the beginning.
Has anything shifted?
Even something tiny?
So,
Good.
Thanks for doing that.
Your whole body,
Your whole system just responded to one new thought.
And that is what we need to focus on.
Your brain is going to go looking today for whatever you were pointing it to.
So,
You just pointed it at something good.
So,
Stay open.
Take each moment as it comes and keep your eyes out for your yellow cars.
And remember,
Don't get ahead of yourself.
We're not solving the whole week right now.
We're just solving today.
We're focused on just one thing for today.
And that's the only place any of this has to work just for today.
I'm Dana Mitchell and thank you for being here.
Now,
Go find something that surprises you,
Lights you up,
And can be called your yellow car for today.
