Welcome to a meditation for finding peace within the green man's garden.
Begin in a position that is comfortable for you,
Either sitting or lying down,
Allowing the body to sink into the earth and be supported by the earth.
Close your eyes and allow them to soften.
Be comfortable,
Making any adjustments you wish.
Relax the shoulders,
The arms,
The hips,
The back,
The knees,
The ankles.
Allow the neck and face to soften.
If you feel any tension or tight spots in any part of the body,
Take awareness to that body part and consciously relax that body part.
Release the excess baggage of any stress or worries you might be carrying,
For you will not need those on this journey.
Always know that you are in a safe environment and sacred space.
Become aware of any external sounds you can hear in this moment.
Start by focusing on the most distant sounds,
Moving the attention from sound to sound without labeling the source and without judgment.
Simply allow these sounds to just be there.
Now visualize the body lying on the earth,
The parts of the body touching the earth,
The entire body being supported by the earth.
Now move the awareness from the external sounds to the sound of the breath as it flows freely and naturally between the nostrils.
Notice the feeling of the breath as it enters and leaves the body.
Feel the flow of the natural breath,
The normal,
Spontaneous and effortless flow,
Maintaining awareness of the breath.
Continue to breathe through the belly.
With each inhale,
The abdomen is expanding.
With each exhale,
The navel is drawn in towards the spine.
We will now deepen our relaxation by bringing peace to ourselves through mindful breathing.
Inhale to the count of two.
Exhale to the count of four.
Inhale one,
Two.
Exhale one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Do this several times.
With each inhale,
The body is becoming more and more relaxed.
The body is becoming soft and calm.
Allow this feeling of relaxation to grow inch by inch throughout the body.
Inhale tranquility.
Exhale that which doesn't serve your highest good.
Breathe in love for yourself.
Breathe out all obstacles to that love.
In your mind's eye,
See yourself in a forest.
The sun is shining,
But it isn't too bright.
The temperature isn't too hot or too cold.
It's just to your liking.
Perhaps you hear birds singing,
A few leaves rustling in the breeze,
The gentle sounds of a stream.
Allow these sounds to simply be there as nature welcomes you into the sacred and protected space.
Perhaps you see birds building a nest.
Perhaps you observe a ladybug on a leaf or a butterfly dancing in the air.
Bring your awareness now to several trees before you.
In the trunk of one of the trees,
The face of a man begins to take form.
The face is that of the green man,
The deity of plant life,
Forests,
And all things earth and green.
He represents growth and rebirth,
And he is the spirit of nature.
Surrounding his face is beautiful foliage.
He smiles warmly as his loving eyes look upon you.
You are not startled or troubled by him,
For he seeks to welcome you here.
Through his presence,
You hear the heartbeat of nature as his loving and caring eyes telegraph a message of peace to you,
A message of welcome.
You notice an effortless flow in nature,
Which matches that of your breathing.
Everything in the forest before you is unfolding naturally,
Without resistance,
Effort,
Or worry.
But tune to that same harmonious energy now,
Inviting it into yourself.
As your breathing continues to mirror nature's flow,
The green man speaks to you.
He whispers,
Thrive like the trees.
Be as steady as the breeze.
Walk with steady steps and ease.
Thrive like the trees.
Be as steady as the breeze.
Walk with steady steps and ease.
You are safe here.
You are welcome here.
You are wanted here.
Spend a few moments finding peace and rest in this visualization of yourself inside this sacred and protected space.
Bring your awareness back to the breath,
The natural,
Quiet breath,
Going in and out of the body.
Maintain awareness of the breath and feel it growing stronger and steadier.
Take a slow,
Conscious,
Deep breath in and release it completely.
Allow the mind to become external now.
Shift the attention to sounds within this room,
The sound of the breath,
Sounds around the earth,
The sound of my voice.
Be aware of the sounds around you.
Be aware of the body.
Be aware of the breath.
Thrive like the trees.
Be as steady as the breeze.
Walk with steady steps and ease.
Begin to invite subtle movements into the hands and feet,
The fingers and toes.
Perhaps you will choose to stretch lightly.
Do what feels natural and comfortable to you.
Take another deep breath and release it slowly.
And when you are ready,
Open your eyes.
May each step you take be at a divine pace,
Surrounded by love and light.
Blessed Be.
