In this episode,
We'll be taking a look at Cactus Magic.
There is prominent in the North American deserts as spruce and pine in the Pacific Northwest.
But unless you live in the desert Southwest,
You might be wondering,
What could be so magical about a cactus?
We could probably start and end with the fact that the cactus not only endures a seemingly inhospitable environment with very little water,
But thrives in those conditions.
So right out of the chute,
The cactus embodies the properties of adaptability and strength.
The needles,
Or thorns,
Of the cactus are its effective defense material mechanism,
Safeguarding it against prey and unwanted visitors.
Since the cactus has such a powerful natural warding system,
It is very much an energetic ally in workings for protection.
Its needles can be added to spell bottles as an extra layer of defense to deflect negative energies.
The flowers,
Or fruit,
From prickly pear cacti are known to make fine nectars,
Juices,
And syrups.
Adding some of this nectar to any potions for growth,
Endurance,
Strength,
And perseverance can give that working an additional boost.
As with all plants,
Mindful and ethical sourcing is a must.
A few desert plants are protected by law.
Perhaps the best way to work with the magical properties of cacti is by planting one or more of them.
You don't have to live in the desert to do this.
Given enough sunlight and protection from cold weather,
Cacti can,
And do,
Grow almost anywhere.
Consider planting one,
Even if potted,
By the doors of your home and call upon its magic to be an energetic sentry for your sacred space.
