Slow down and listen to the inner voice of wisdom. The teacher is inside each of us. We need not look outside of ourselves. Simply learn to observe and to ask the proper questions.

Allow yourself to settle in wherever you are,

Whether you're sitting down with your feet flat on the ground,

On your bottom,

Or on your back.

Allow your palms to face up,

Fingers curled,

And take a few full rounds of breath.

Deep breaths down into your belly,

Fully exhaling,

Releasing any tension or stress in your body,

And then begin to notice where you are physically in this space.

The body is always in the present moment.

The mind wanders to the past and to the future.

Through the breath,

We connect to the body,

Breathing in,

Breathing out.

Allow yourself to notice any connection of your body to the ground.

Feel the rise and fall of your breath moving your body,

Just like the ocean tide moves in and out.

Notice the gentle rhythm of your breath.

Allow yourself now to check in with any emotions that you may be having today,

Observing objectively anything you may be feeling,

Noticing if you're having a good day or a challenging day or maybe your emotions have been up and down.

Just notice.

Then as you focus on the rise and fall of the breath,

Right in the solar plexus between the navel and the heart,

Ask yourself this simple yet profound question,

And then we'll take a few silent moments to listen for the answer.

What do I need today?

Allow yourself to notice where you are,

Notice your needs,

And listen to that still quiet voice,

That voice of inner wisdom.

All we need to do to listen is to slow down,

Bring ourselves in the present moment,

And ask the questions.

Allow yourself to breathe in and breathe out.

Allow yourself to feel your physical body,

Noticing once again where you are in this room and this space.

Find some movement with your fingers and your toes,

And begin to bring yourself back into the outside world with an inner knowing of what you need and where you are moving forward.

Have a wonderful day.

I really liked this. Very short but all I needed, a calm, gentle kind voice reminding me to take a few minutes, breathe and answer a simple question. The answer popped right up, when it eluded me in my “cranked up” state. Thanks!!!!

A wonderfully simple, but effective question. What do I need today? This is a great way to check in during the day. I just wish she’d actually given us “a few quiet moments” to listen to the answer. It was maybe 10 sec. I took the time after the meditation closed. Will return to this.
