This guided visualization is one of a ten-part series to become deeply connected with the energies of the planets as seen through the lens of traditional/ancient astrology. In this meditation, you'll meet the Mother archetype of the Moon, however, she appears to you. This isn't your birth mother, but the mother we all carry within us internally to care for ourselves. You'll reflect on self-compassion, comfort, and care and dive deeply into what they mean to you alongside your inner Moon expression.

Welcome back.

In this meditation we will use shamanic dreaming practices to meet the mother archetype of the moon however she appears to you.

We all have the moon and her home sign Cancer in our birth charts even if you don't have any planets occupying Cancer.

The moon in astrology is associated with our emotional self-expression,

Our mothers,

Our intuition,

How we nourish and soothe ourselves,

What we find comforting,

Our bodies,

And our unconscious beliefs.

The moon also influences how we relate to others and our memories.

As one of the luminaries along with the sun she brings light to earth.

If you were born during the night time the moon may resonate more with you than the sun and you may feel more in alignment with descriptions of your moon sign than that of your sun sign.

Even if it may feel difficult or challenging for you to connect with moon energies they are there.

We all have a relationship to the mother archetype between us and outside mother figures in our lives and how we mother or parent ourselves as adults and we all have bodies that we care for and have to nourish.

We all have emotions and unique ways of expressing them.

Think back to a time where you felt overwhelmed by emotion and think of how you dealt with it.

Your natal moon sign definitely had something to do with that expression.

Think of your mother and your relationship or lack thereof to her.

How did your experiences or lack of experiences with her shape the kind of emotional reactions you have today?

For some people this will be a difficult concept to consider but know that reflecting on these things can help you understand the kind of mothering that you need to give yourself in order to help heal any wounding that happened in your childhood and to help you become a more emotionally balanced person now.

We'll use shamanic dreaming to come in contact with your inner mother.

Not the mother who raised you but the part of yourself that nourishes and nurtures you to be the best person you can be.

I want you to relax taking several deep breaths in and out together.

Breathe in,

Hold,

Release.

Come into the present moment and into your body.

Let go of outside thoughts.

Breathe in again into wherever you're feeling the most sensation in your body.

Let it out with a sigh.

Last time.

Breathe in together.

Hold at the top.

Let it go.

Allow your mind to make space for this visualization to happen.

Set an intention to meet your inner mother.

Hold it in your heart.

Breathe into it then let it go.

Imagine you're on a beach.

Whatever this beach looks like is up to you.

There's no wrong way to imagine this place.

You're next to a large body of water.

It's nighttime and the full moon is fully above the horizon.

What's the weather like right now?

Even if it's cloudy you can see the light of the moon vaguely through the clouds.

What sort of sensations do you feel here?

Imagine your feet in the sand.

What does the sand feel like?

Is it soft and wet or dry and coarse?

What else do you notice in this environment?

Plants,

Animals,

Smells,

Sounds.

You can feel an energy coming in off the ocean and washing over you.

What does it feel like?

A short distance down the beach you notice a covered lean-to that feels especially welcoming.

You feel like this is a safe space for you to sit for a while and watch the waves come in and out of the shore.

You make your way over there feeling each step you take be received by the sand.

Are you walking in the water or out of it?

As you come closer to the lean-to you can see more details about it.

What do you notice?

What sort of materials is it made of?

You come inside and take a seat in the sand.

Are there any decorations inside?

What does the emotional energy of this space feel like?

Take a moment to relax here looking out over the ocean and letting the energy of this space sink in.

As you stare out at the ocean memories start to arise of times you needed nourishment.

What comes to mind?

Did you receive that nourishment?

Or not?

Memories also arise of times when you felt the most cared for,

The most comfortable.

What in your life makes you feel comforted?

What nourishes you at the deepest core levels?

The ocean brings in waves and remembering and intuitive knowing of what it is that you need the most right now.

This understanding brings a sense of relaxation,

Of relief that there is a way out from under your stress as long as you respect your core needs and not brush them aside.

As you come out of these memories you look up and see your inner mother sitting next to you in the room that you lean to,

The one who helps you to nourish yourself,

To express your emotions,

To care for yourself in the way that you need to the most.

What do they look like to you?

Greet this part of you that has been so instrumental in shaping your experience of your life.

Your inner mother has a message for you,

Listen to what they have to say.

I'll be silent for a while to give you time and space to receive this message and ask any questions you may have to your inner mother.

It's now time to leave this space.

Thank your inner mother for coming to meet you.

Know that you can come back here anytime or tap into this energy whenever you want or need.

Make your way back to the same spot you came into the beach on.

Has the path changed at all?

Does the ocean or sky look or feel any different now?

Come back into your body,

Take a deep breath,

Wiggle your fingers and toes,

Take some time to let the messages you receive from your inner mother sink in.

Maybe write down anything that feels important to remember.

You are so capable of giving yourself what you need to feel loved and nourished in this lifetime.

Slow down and respect your intuition about these things and your future self will be grateful.
