Are you ready?
To meditate.
With Kari.
Make sure that you're all snuggly and warm in your bed.
It's the end of the day.
It's time to wind down and relax.
And let your body.
Eventually.
Hopefully.
Get a really good night's rest.
Tucker was laid in bed,
Wishing he had changed the evening he had just had before he'd even had it.
But for that,
We need to rewind to earlier in the evening.
Tucker and Leo had gone over to Gabby's house.
Gabby had some siblings.
Adeline,
Charlie,
And Taylor.
The kids were all in the den.
They decided that they were going to watch a scary movie.
Tucker was all for a scary movie.
Anything exciting for Tucker was good news.
Leo,
On the other hand.
.
.
Was not willing to watch a scary movie.
Leo decided that he was going to hang out in the kitchen.
And lay on their mom's feet.
Keep her mom's feet warm,
And just relax.
Tucker announced to all the kids that he was ready and he was very excited.
So,
What is it?
What is it that we're watching?
I must confess,
Everyone,
I must confess,
My little friends,
That I have never watched a scary movie.
But I've heard a lot about scary movies,
And I have decided that I am exactly the type of dog that would be totally okay with a scary movie.
Do you know why?
Gabby said,
Why?
Tucker said.
Real.
Tylo said,
How do you know they're not real,
Tucker?
I mean,
They look pretty real.
A lot of them do anyway.
Tucker said.
No,
Tyler,
No,
They're not.
They're not real.
They can't be real.
Because one,
The first thing is,
In the title,
It says it's a movie.
And movies are things that are made up,
Right?
So somewhere in a studio,
There's a bunch of people that's making the movie.
And therefore,
It's a movie.
And that means it's not actually real life.
It's not like a camera was following someone and this actually happened.
That would be more of a documentary.
Charlie said I didn't realize you were that smart took her took us a door.
Yeah,
I'm very very smart I'm quite convincing of other things but Inside I'm very smart Anyway,
Yeah,
No,
I happen to know that because one time I was watching a documentary about making movies They were making they were making musical movies.
They weren't making horror movies.
They were making musicals But nonetheless it tells you like that.
Basically,
It's all pretend So I'm okay with watching a scary movie because I know it's not real.
Documentary on the other hand,
I don't think I'd like to watch that.
Gabby walked in the room with a big bowl of popcorn.
Tucker stuck his head in it straight away and made lots of noises.
And within 10 seconds,
Half of the popcorn had gone.
Tucker came up with it stuck on his tongue and stuck up his nose and because his nose was wet it was like a sticky pad and it was stuck all over his nose and Tucker was cross-eyed looking at his nose trying to lick the popcorn off his nose.
Ooh,
Gabby,
That was absolutely delicious.
I'm sorry I ate so much so fast.
I should have had dinner before we came over.
Gabby said,
No problem,
Tucker,
That bowl can be just for you since you're slavered in it and everything.
I'll go back in the kitchen and I'll make just us kids a bowl all for us,
Tucker,
Not for you.
Tucker said,
Okay,
Gabby,
Okay,
I get it,
I get it.
I'll not eat your popcorn as well as my popcorn.
But since this is my popcorn,
Can I eat it all at once?
Gabby said,
Go for it,
Tooka.
Tucker put his head back in the big,
Big bowl of popcorn,
Rummaged it around in there,
Made lots of noises like,
Like that,
And then came back up and said,
Oh,
That was absolutely delicious.
OK,
So I'm ready.
I'm ready for the movie.
I am a little bit thirsty,
Though.
Tucker got up and went and had a drink of water out of the toilet,
Which totally freaked Charlie out because Charlie's not used to having a dog at the house and definitely definitely not used to a dog drinking out of the toilet.
Charlie's mum caught Tucker on his way out,
Dribbling water all over the bathroom floor.
And she said,
Tucker,
If you'd have wanted a drink of water,
You could have just told me.
I would have put a bowl down for you.
Tucker just wiped his mouth and then carried on walking to the living room.
He sat down on the sofa with all of the kids.
They'd turn the lights down low,
Especially because it was scary movie night.
There was a lot of times during the movie where Tucker jumped a mile.
Every time he jumped a mile,
Everyone jumped a mile because He was jumping a mile on the scary part and the scary parts were making everybody scared and jumpy.
But still.
Tyler thought it was really funny and he kept saying,
So it's not real then Tooker?
Why are you scared if it's not real then Tooker?
Tooker said,
Oh I'm not scared it just surprised me that's all.
I was like oh that was a big surprise.
But inside,
Tucker was starting to get a little bit scared of this movie.
But he didn't really want to say anything because he'd already said that he knew it wasn't real.
And that the movie was a scary movie,
But it wasn't a real thing,
Like a documentary.
So he felt embarrassed and he couldn't go back on his word because then he would look Silly.
That's what took her thought.
Little did he know,
Tooka could have said it any time.
That he didn't like the movie and Gabby would have happily.
.
.
Turned it off and they could have watched something that was much happier or nicer.
Not everybody can watch scary movies.
And to be honest,
Maybe scary movies aren't really a good idea for anybody.
Because who wants to be scared on a purpose?
Anyway.
Tucker stayed,
And he listened,
And he jumped a lot,
And he watched the movie all the way to the end with everyone,
And everyone at the end was all talking about whether it was a good movie or a bad movie,
And Tucker was just going along with it.
Oh yes,
I thought it was very good,
He said,
Even though inside he was shaking in his boots.
When Leo figured out the movie was over,
He came in the living room.
He sat down with everyone and asked them what they thought about the movie.
He noticed that Tucker was a little bit quiet.
Took us never quiet.
But he noticed that Tucker was a bit quiet.
And then.
.
.
Being Leo,
Being super sensitive.
He figured that it was probably best that they went home and then Tucker could talk to him.
And not be embarrassed to tell him what was going on.
Even though Gabby and Taylor.
.
.
Adeline and Charlie were really sweet and Tucker loved them to death.
He still was just a little bit embarrassed about saying he'd been scared.
When the dogs got home.
Took her,
Laid down on the bed and got comfortable.
And Leone laid next to him.
Leo said.
Why so quiet,
Taka?
What's going on?
Because I do nothing I'm fine I'm fine make sure can we can we make sure that we leave the light on tonight please I'd like I'd like to sleep in the light I'm going to pretend that it's like moonlight shining through the window even though it's not a full moon outside I'd like to have a full moon tonight please Leo was now definitely convinced that something was wrong with Tucker.
Leo decided to make it easy for him.
Was that movie really scary,
Tucker?
Took his side.
Egg?
No,
No.
Yes,
It was.
It was awful.
Leo said,
Why didn't you come and tell me?
Or why didn't you tell Gabby?
She would have changed the channel.
Tucker said.
I don't want to go to the bathroom because I'm all scared.
I want to just stay with you,
Leo.
And then,
And then,
And then I think,
And then tomorrow I think I'll probably be fine.
Leo said.
But what about the whole thing that we watched?
That documentary that we watched about how they make movies and that the movies aren't real.
Remember that,
Tucker?
Movies aren't real,
Tucker.
It's just pretend.
Tucker said.
Maybe,
Maybe the police don't come in time and.
.
.
Leo said,
Toca.
He grabbed hold of one of Tucker's paws and he held his paw and he said,
Everything's okay,
Tucker.
The movie wasn't real.
Now we know we don't watch scary movies because they upset you too much.
And even though we know it's not real.
.
.
You used your imagination because you have a good imagination and now you're imagining things even though logically you know it's not real.
On the other side of it,
Your brain is going crazy with all the things that could possibly happen because the scary movie gave you ideas about scary situations and now that's all you can think of.
The best thing we can do,
Said Leo,
Is to watch something nice now.
We'll erase all the scariness and we'll watch something nice.
Tucker said,
Oh,
Can we watch My Little Pony,
Please?
I like to watch My Little Pony when I'm a little bit upset about anything,
Because it always makes me happy.
It makes me feel nice and safe and warm inside,
Like I've eaten something really warm and comforting,
Like,
Like,
I don't know,
Mashed potatoes.
Yeah,
Mashed potatoes.
Yeah.
It makes me feel like mashed potato,
Tommy.
I need to feel like mashed potato,
Tommy,
Right now.
Leo.
Put on my little pony.
And they sat together.
Leo put his arm around him.
And snuggle them in.
And told him everything was going to be fine.
To keep telling himself it was just pretend.
It wasn't real.
Took her.
Started to feel a little bit better.
My Little Pony was sweet and innocent and the story was uplifting and happy and every character was a nice character and this made him feel sweet.
And warm.
Like mashed potatoes inside of his tummy.
And the Maori watched,
The Maori forgot about the horrible.
Horrible,
Scary movie.
It was like the nice program was erasing the scary program.
Wiping it out.
Like a blackboard,
Wiping it clean from his memory.
It just needed to not dwell on anything scary.
He needed to know he was safe,
And he was definitely safe in the house.
The doors were locked.
The alarm system was on.
His mom and dad were in the house close by if he needed them.
Everything was okay.
The next day.
Tooka announced to Leo.
I'm not going to watch scary movies ever again,
Leo.
I decided scary movies are not very nice.
Scary movies should be banned,
Leo.
I've decided that I'm going to make it my life's work to ban scary movies because there must be so many doggies,
So many kittens,
So many kiddies that are scared by scary movies all over the world that it's just a shame.
And what if,
This is terrible,
But what if they don't I won't have my little pony to fix the problem.
And then the stuck with those horrible scary visions in the mind and those sounds and the screams and the sights.
Oh,
And it's just all so terrible.
I'd much,
Much,
Much rather watch something nice on Teleform now on.
I am a definite fan of nice,
Happy children's programs,
Please.
Nothing adulty and scary for me ever again.
I'm very scared!
Leo said.
Yes,
You were.
It took a lot of my little pony to- Before you would even fall to sleep last night you were so scared.
I know,
But thank you for being with me,
Leo.
Thank you for being my bestest dog friend,
My bestest brother.
Thank you so much for putting your paws around me and making me feel safe.
That was really helpful,
Leo.
Leo said.
You're welcome,
Tucker.
I love you a lot,
That's why.
Tucker said,
I love you too,
Leo.
I love you a lot.
Tucker went over to Leo and rubbed his wet nose all over Leo's face.
It licked on his face at the same time because he said,
Oh,
Leo,
You taste like a dog dinner.
Leo lifted his paw up and push Tucker away and said,
Tucker,
Stop it.
Tucker said,
You know you like it when I'm sloppy,
Leo.
You know you like it.
Leo really didn't like it.
He didn't like it when took a slavadol over his face.
But he did love his brother.
So it was okay.
The end.
