Heidi, Cherry & Vaya Make A Dragon - Children's Meditation Story

Heidi, Cherry and Vaya are staying over at their friend, Dylan's house. He has a big candy surprise for them. The surprise turns into an even bigger surprise when Cherry's awesome imagination actually becomes a reality and a Dragon is born!!!!!!!

Are you ready to meditate with Kari?

Lie down,

Be still and quiet.

Try and let your body relax so that you can eventually fall to sleep and have the bestest sweetest dreams.

Heidi,

Cherry and Vea were at Dylan's house.

They were in his bedroom.

Dylan was one of their good friends and he wanted them to try something that he'd just recently discovered.

It was called Pop Rocks.

It was a candy called Pop Rocks.

Even though Pop Rocks have been around for a while,

Dylan had only just figured out what they were when one of his friends brought them to school.

So now Dylan wanted to introduce the cats to Pop Rocks.

He thought it would be really funny to not explain to them what actually happens when you put Pop Rocks in your mouth.

Pop Rocks,

If you don't know,

Are a candy that pop all over your tongue when you put them on your tongue.

Dylan got four different flavors,

Four different packets.

He gave Heidi a packet,

Cherry a packet and Vea a packet and Dylan had his own packet.

They all sat on his rug in his bedroom on the floor in a circle.

Cherry said,

Dylan,

The suspense is killing me.

What's this all about?

I know you said that you had something really cool to show us,

But you know,

Pop Rocks,

Whatever this says on this packet,

Doesn't sound that interesting unless it's some kind of candy that takes you like a rocket to the moon or something.

Then,

You know,

I'm like,

What is it?

What's so interesting about it?

I mean,

It just looks like a packet of sherbet or something,

You know.

Anyway,

What is it?

Dylan said,

I'm going to count to three and when I say three,

Everybody sprinkles some of the Pop Rocks into their mouth.

Heidi said,

Is this a trick?

Is it something that's not good for us?

Is it something that's gonna be really,

Really sour and you're gonna think it's funny?

Dylan said,

No,

It's not that.

Veya said,

Is it like a magic potion where you get to make a wish and turn into something?

Dylan said,

I wish,

Veya,

But no,

It's not that.

Cherry said,

Oh,

Come on,

Come on,

Let's just do it.

Let's just do it.

Dylan counted to three.

One,

Two,

Two and a half,

Two and three quarters.

Cherry said,

Dylan.

Dylan said,

Okay,

Okay,

Three.

All at the same time,

The cats and Dylan sprinkle some of their Pop Rocks from their packet into their mouths.

Within a couple of seconds,

The Pop Rocks started to do what they were famous for.

They started to pop,

Pop,

Pop,

Pop,

Pop,

Pop,

Pop,

Pop,

Pop,

Pop,

Pop on the cat's tongs,

On Dylan's tongs.

Cherry's eyes got really big.

She said,

Oh,

She said again,

Oh,

I'm J,

I love it.

It's like,

It's like there's a band or something going off on my tongue.

It's like poppity poppity pop,

Pop,

Pop and it tickles so much.

It's so much fun.

She started laughing.

Heidi said,

Hmm,

Very interesting.

Luckily,

She had a smile on her face.

So Dylan knew she was all right.

They said,

She didn't quite know what to say.

She was just experiencing the whole Pop Rock experience.

It was awesome.

The cats and Dylan did mouthful after mouthful after mouthful.

They only had a little bit left in their packet.

When Cherry said,

I think I want to save mine.

I want to save it for another time and another experience.

I have a feeling,

You know,

That there's something very magical about these Pop Rocks.

Something like what Vea said.

I know Vea was just saying it would be nice to have a magical portion,

But you know,

What if,

What if these Pop Waps were like something much more than Pop Rocks?

You know,

What if they just did more than pop?

What if they did something really magic,

Magical and amazing and like Fandabby Dosey?

What if?

Dylan,

By the way,

Like dragons.

His whole room,

I've got different ornaments and posters and pictures and books.

Even his bedding had a dragon on it.

He was obsessed with dragons and Cherry knew this.

And she said,

What if,

What if we gave some of these Pop Rocks to one of your ornaments?

I know your ornaments are made of like,

What is it?

Pot?

Or is it something else?

Heidi said,

You mean ceramics?

Cherry said,

Yeah,

That's it.

I know they were a fancier name than pot.

Anyway,

What if we take one of these little ornaments,

These little cute little ornaments?

Cherry picked one of the dragons up off the shelf and held it in a pot.

This one,

For example,

It was a red dragon,

A red dragon with orange and yellow scales all over it.

And he had a big long red tail with a yellow pointy bit on the end.

It was a very awesome looking dragon.

What if,

What if we gave this little man,

This little thing,

This little animal,

Whatever he is,

A bit of our Pop Rocks?

What if we gave him some of our Pop Rocks?

And all of a sudden magic happened.

Should we try it?

Should we try it?

Cherry sprinkled a little bit of Pop Rocks into her other paw and pretended to feed it to the ceramic dragon.

Yum,

Yum,

Yum,

Yum,

Yum,

Yum,

Yum,

Yum,

Yum,

Yum,

Yum,

Yum,

Yum,

Yum,

Yum,

Said Cherry,

Pretending that the dragon was actually eating the Pop Rocks.

But it wasn't of course,

Because it was just made of pot.

It wasn't a real dragon.

But anyway,

Cherry was using her imagination and pretending.

And there's nothing wrong with pretending,

Because sometimes,

Sometimes pretending actually becomes something very,

Very real.

Later that night,

The cats snuggled into bed with Dylan because they were having a sleepover.

They'd all got the pajamas on.

They'd all brushed their teeth,

Which is especially important after Pop Rocks,

Which is candy.

And candy could ruin your teeth.

They all made sure that they were ready for bed and they were comfortable.

They felt safe and snuggly and warm together.

Dylan was talking about his dragons.

He even read them a dragon story.

The cats got very,

Very sleepy.

Dylan got very,

Very sleepy.

And before too long,

They were all fast asleep.

When there was stillness and quiet,

Nothing but quiet.

Just the crickets cricketing away outside in the evening.

The trees were swaying in the wind and the leaves were rustling away.

A few snoring noises from the cats.

But it was quiet.

Still.

And that's when it happened.

The dragon,

The ceramic dragon,

The red one,

The cherry,

That fed Pop Rocks to,

Started to move.

Its scales started to break open as if it was exposing something on the inside.

Like a chicken breaking through its shell.

Like when you break a chocolate Easter egg and you crack it open and there's something inside.

It was just like that.

And what came out of the ceramic dragon was a tinier dragon that was red with orange and yellow scales and a really long tail with a yellow pointy bit on the end.

The dragon jumped away from its ceramic shell,

Landed down on the rug in the middle of Dylan's bedroom and started searching for the Pop Rock packets.

He was sniffing them out with his dragon nose that was still very tiny at this point.

He found the packets of Pop Rocks.

One was on the table,

One was in a backpack and then the other one was just scattered on the floor.

He opened them up with his tongue and his claws and he licked away at the inside of the packets.

The Pop Rocks were still sticking to the side of the packet on the inside and he licked them off with his tongue.

The Pop Rocks popped on the dragon's tongue and the dragon started to grow.

He got bigger and bigger and bigger with every Pop Rock he swallowed.

Every time a Pop Rock popped he got bigger and bigger.

The rustling and the movement and the sound of the dragon filling up Dylan's bedroom woke up Cherry first.

Cherry rubbed her eyes with her paws.

O M G she said very loud which woke everyone else up.

Everyone else rubbed at their eyes and then they all just laid there very very still staring at this enormous red dragon in the middle of Dylan's bedroom.

Dylan said this is like magic,

This is like my dream come true.

There's a dragon in my room,

Like a real dragon,

Like an actual real dragon.

Cherry said is it gonna eat us?

Do you think it's gonna eat us?

Oh no it's gonna eat us,

It's gonna burn us.

You know what dragons do don't you?

They burn fire,

They burn it out the mouth,

Well they blow it,

They do something with it,

They burp it,

They burp fire out of the mouths and then they burn you and then before you know it you're like a crispy piece of chicken nugget or something.

This is awful we're gonna die,

We're gonna die.

Heidi said it might be a nice dragon.

Faea said me's not staying around to find out and she jumped off the bed and dived under the bed.

I'm staying right here said Faea hiding under the bed.

Heidi said I think I might come and do that too.

Cherry said no no no no not yet let's find out,

Let's find out if he's nice or not and then we'll all dive under the bed if he's gonna burp fire on us,

We'll find out.

Dylan ask him you like dragons,

Ask him if he's nice or if he's gonna eat us.

Dylan swallowed really hard and built up some courage and said hello Mr.

Dragon are you gonna eat us?

The dragon by now was filling almost all of Dylan's room,

It was very squished and very very very very big.

It moved its head around so it could see where the voice was coming from.

It peered down at Dylan with its big green eyes and said of course not I would like some more pot rocks though.

Pot rocks?

Said Cherry did you eat my pot rocks?

Did you eat the rest of my pot rocks?

I know you ate my pot rocks when I were pretending to feed you pot rocks but did you eat really?

He really ate my pot rocks,

He really really ate them and he's real now and I know you were all thinking I was nuts,

You were all thinking I was crazy,

Here she is again pretending pretending pretending but look when your imagination's strong and it's powerful like mine it really works guys I made this dragon real,

I made him real,

I know he's so big and he wants more pot rocks.

Dylan do you have more pot rocks?

Dylan said I think I have some downstairs in the kitchen cabinet I'll go get them.

Dylan ran downstairs to the kitchen to grab the last packet of pot rocks.

When he ran back into his bedroom he could barely open the door he had to squeeze his way into his room and squeeze his way past so that the dragon could see his face.

The dragon said I must warn you when I eat the pot rocks I get bigger and bigger and bigger.

In that case said Dylan let's go outside before you eat any more pot rocks I suggest you break through the roof because you can't get through the door or the windows you're just gonna have to smash your way out dragon.

The dragon smashed his way through Dylan's roof stomped over the house and down onto the back garden.

The cats all at the same time grabbed a hold of the dragon so they were all attached to him when he stepped out of the house and onto the garden.

They slid down his leg and landed on the grass.

Cherry said I can't believe it I can't believe it it's magnificent look at him he's enormous already how big is he gonna get if we give him more pot rocks.

I think we really ought to have a meeting we ought to have a meeting and discuss this because this might be critical.

Where's he gonna go where's he gonna live what's he gonna do I mean is he gonna burn us is he still gonna burn us we still haven't asked if he's gonna burn us Dylan ask him if he's gonna burn us.

Dylan said are you going to burn us dragon.

The dragon looked down at him and said no.

Dylan said there you go Cherry he's not gonna burn us.

Cherry said oh him gee thank goodness for that right then well okay let's give him some more pot rocks shall we let's see what happens.

Dylan opened the last packet of pot rocks he tore it open the dragon leant down stuck his tongue out and Dylan put the pot rocks on his tongue.

Instantly the dragon started to get bigger and bigger and bigger still bigger than the houses bigger than the trees so big so so so big it was scary.

Cherry said I think that were a mistake Dylan it's enormous now it's even more enormous and I'm a bit scared.

Faya said me he's been very scared all along me he's not convinced he's not gonna burn us.

Cherry said what we're gonna do with him Dylan said I have an idea there's a castle a couple of miles away it's not too far away it's an abandoned castle that's called the dragon's keep.

Perfect right maybe he could go live there he could live in the castle and no one would ever know it's an enormous castle it definitely fit.

The dragon said I like the sound of that would you like to show me where it is.

Dylan said um all right then the cats and Dylan all climbed up the dragon's tail got all the way to the top and grabbed a hold of some of the pointy spiky things on his back so that they could hold on tight.

The dragon expanded its wings they were enormous bigger than three houses on either side.

And within seconds they were up in the air flying on a dragon.

It took them literally four seconds to get to the castle because the dragon was so big.

When they got there there was so much land around the castle luckily that the dragon could just land anywhere.

Dylan said this could be your new home do you like it.

The dragon said it's perfect.

Cherry said I can't believe I made a dragon I can't believe it I'm so talented I'm so talented I'm even more talented and awesome than I thought I was guys.

I mean I'm just so impressed with my imagination I'm so impressed with my talents I'm so so impressed with my heart.

It's my heart you know it's my heart my heart is so pure and so so so so loving and so kind that it just created this dragon from just saying can you imagine can you imagine if this dragon turned into a real dragon.

I'm gonna have to be so careful I'm gonna have to I'm gonna have to I could walk into a bank and say can you imagine if all the money in this bank was my money and it'd be my money it'd be my money and I'd be so rich.

I'm not I'm gonna have to be careful because I could do that you know and I could totally take over the world I could be so powerful.

Cherry the president Cherry the world dominating president.

Cherry the world dominant president.

What do you say when it's a president that's a woman do you still say it's a president or do you say it's a presidentissess like a princess and a prince is it like that or is that would I still be a president.

What do you think Heidi?

Heidi was just staring at the dragon absolutely mesmerized barely heard what Cherry was saying but she managed to say no you'd be still a president.

Cherry said all right then Cherry the president so rich so kind so powerful I'd be like I'd be bigger than a president I'd be like a demi god I'd be I could be a demi god I could even be bigger than that.

I could be like the real god like the biggest god you know like god Cherry the god that could be me just from having an amazing imagination.

Don't knock it guys don't knock it there's nothing wrong with making up stories you know it's the most powerful thing in the world now I know I've got to be so careful look at me popping dragons out here and there as if I was just popping out cupcakes out of another or something.

So clever so so clever.

Anyway what do we do now?

Dylan said well we make his way back home and we leave this dragon in dragon's keep and we come and visit him whenever we want.

Awesome idea said Cherry awesome idea.

They said oh thank goodness can we go please can we go I'd like to go me's not very happy about this at all.

They all went home.

And then before anybody realized it was morning time.

They were downstairs having a bowl of cereal when Dylan said I had the craziest dream last night.

I dreamt that one of my dragons turned into a real dragon.

It was an enormous dragon it was a red dragon and it changed because of the pot box cherry.

Cherry said hmm was it a dream though Dylan was it or was it real?

Pecan blinked slowly, clearing back to his normal self. “Wha—?!” Pecan was interrupted by the ground shaking. Pecan suddenly collapsed to the floor, a wound bleeding on his throat. “Almond, let’s GO!” A voice roared above her. Viper. He’s here. Almond lept into the air her wing was stiff, she couldn’t move it. Viper took her talons in his, swinging her onto his back. Almond clung to one of his wings. Sturdy. She rolled over onto it, gripped his wing, and spread her hurt wing as far as it would go. Thousands, millions, billions of RainbowWings below them. Viper soared higher, out of the throwing range of the murderous dragons activity trying to kill them. They landed on a island with a hidden cave impossible to spot from above. They settled in, and fell asleep, flipped over, under, beside each other. Their tails were twined at the end, their wings brush and snouts close.
