One of the main barriers to shadow work is our fear of overwhelm, both the fear of the dysfunction encountering shadow material might cause and also the fear of the intense emotions that might arise. In this video, I remedy this fear by explaining your body, mind, and consciousness already have their own built-in 'pipette' that only allows a drop of shadow through at a time anyway, creating a 'titration' effect. It only ever gives you as much as you can handle or is helpful. It often feels intensely overwhelming to begin with, but this is simply the dismantling of old fear-structures. So, through a development of internal trust, you can ensure this deep, heavy work is handled gently and hopefully a little more comfortably. My approach to Shadow Work is influenced by Carl Jung, Zen Buddhism, and modern science.
