Hey,
Today we are going to do something a little different.
As always,
Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths.
We do this to center ourselves,
To bring peace in our bodies,
And coming to this time with an open mind.
And any writing utensils you have around you,
And anything to draw on that you don't mind tearing up.
I want you to spend a few minutes drawing something.
It can be something simple as just a flower,
Or a heart,
Or a star,
Or a few things.
And spend a little bit of time doing it.
Try to make it look nice.
And after you do it,
We'll do the second part of this exercise.
I will do it as well.
Today I'm using a Sharpie,
And I am drawing some stars,
And hearts.
Sometimes I like to draw houses with hearts in them.
When you add colors to this exercise,
It really does help because you're investing more of your thoughts,
Your creative mind,
Into what you are making.
So the whole point of this exercise is to be able to start making something and be okay with however it comes out,
And be okay with letting it go.
Often times I have these ideas,
Or I write something,
Or I draw something,
Or I color something,
And I put time and energy into it.
And it's good,
But sometimes it's not what I really wanted it to be.
And even still,
I have a hard time letting it go.
So as we keep drawing,
Think about those things that you hold on to.
The things that you don't want to let go of.
We'll continue for another minute or so.
Let me just make something,
Write some words down.
Often times that's what I will do for this exercise.
I will write words down,
Make it look pretty on an index card,
But not spend too much time on it.
Now that you see your finished product,
Sometimes I take a picture of mine if it came out particularly well.
But now that you've finished what you've been drawing or writing,
We're going to go ahead and fold it up.
Fold it in half one way,
Fold it in half the other way,
And now rip it.
I just want to rip it into bits and say,
That's okay.
I know I can let go.
I know I can let go.
This is a way to practice letting go.
That's all for now.
I hope that you found this practice to be helpful and I will connect and create wonder with you again.
