Welcome to your sleep sanctuary.
I am Colleen Fletcher.
Tonight we are addressing the tension that hides deep in your cells.
The survival tension.
Tightness that whispers to your body that it needs to stay on guard.
Stay alert and stay awake.
If you are holding your breath.
Or if your muscles feel coiled like a spring.
I want you to know that the threat is gone.
The day is conquered.
You survived it all.
And your only task right now is to stand down into your personal calm.
Let's tell your nervous system that it is safe to disarm.
Take a deep,
Deep breath into your belly and into your low back.
Inflating your lungs fully.
Hold that fullness.
And then let it drop.
Let it go with an audible sigh.
You are off duty now.
Bring your awareness to your jaw.
Unclench your teeth.
And let your lower jaw hang loosely.
So much of our survival instinct is stored right here.
As your jaw softens,
Feel a wave of permission travel down your neck and into your shoulders.
Now bring your attention to your belly and your hips.
This is the center of our protective shielding.
As you breathe in.
Imagine a warm golden light filling your lower abdomen.
And as you breathe out.
Consciously invite the deep muscles of your pelvis and your lower back to uncoil.
Let them spread out wide across your bed.
Dropping the knee to fight and run.
Now is the time to settle.
Can fully drop your weight into the mattress.
Let the bed carry you entirely.
Imagine the tension leaving your body.
Like water draining away into the earth.
Feel it melting out of the back of your head.
Out from between your shoulder blades.
Out of your lower back and down through your legs.
Your physical armor is dissolving.
With every exhale,
You are sinking deeper past the surface layer of sleep.
Down into a place of primal safety.
You are protected.
You are secure.
You are allowed to be your true self in this darkened,
Quiet room.
The world outside can spin without you as you find yourself.
Your guard is down.
The shield is laid aside.
Your body is soft,
Heavy,
And comfortable.
Let your breath become natural and easy,
Moving on its own like a tide.
We're drifting away from the doing.
And sinking deep into the being.
Letting go of the struggle.
Releasing the tension.
Sinking down.
Down.
Into deep restorative peace.
Sleep is here.
Good night.
