The deepest self-care starts with listening to the messages your body is giving you moment to moment. This meditation helps you slow down and listen to your body's subtle messages, so that you can take better care of yourself. It is recommended that you budget 5-10 minutes after this meditation for a self-care practice of your choice. This meditation was created by Emma Donovan, holistic therapist. Welcome.

This meditation will help you become more embodied so that you can take better care of yourself throughout your day.

Because the best self-care comes from noticing what you need moment to moment and giving this to yourself.

So let's begin.

Take a moment to get into a comfortable seated posture.

See if you can sit up tall without feeling tense or rigid.

So balancing that softness and strength.

Close your eyes and take some deep belly breaths on your own at your own pace.

Softening the belly,

Softening the shoulders also or any other place where you feel tension right now,

Just let that go.

Now I'll invite you to make the intention to become friends with your body.

Being curious about how it's feeling and the messages that it's trying to send you.

Now take a wide perspective of yourself and just become aware of how you're feeling right now in this very moment,

From your head all the way down to your toes.

And just notice if any discomfort or need grabs your attention.

Are you perhaps feeling thirsty?

If so,

How are you experiencing this thirst?

Or are you hungry?

How is the body communicating this hunger to you?

What sensations are you feeling?

Do you have any tension in your body?

Where is it?

Can you bring your awareness there and soften that tension?

Do you have a headache right now?

Or do you feel fatigued?

How do you know?

What sensations do you feel?

Are you feeling any aches or pains or soreness anywhere?

Where in your body are you feeling this?

What does it feel like?

Are you experiencing any emotions?

Any anxiety?

Just get curious about that.

What are those emotions like?

How do they feel?

Just accept everything that you're noticing with non-judgmental awareness.

Even if it feels uncomfortable,

This is your body's way of communicating really important messages to you.

It gives you these messages and clues all day.

And the more they're ignored,

The stronger they must become.

Now I'll invite you to become aware of places in your body where you feel good or pleasant or even just neutral.

Chances are there are many places in your body like this.

So take a few moments to savor these places.

Experiencing gratitude for how wonderful it is to have a healthy body that functions well all day for you.

And finally,

Zoom back out to take in your body as a whole.

And just ask your body what needs my attention most right now.

Do I need food,

Water,

Rest,

A head massage,

Connection?

What is the one thing that I need most right now to take care of myself?

And just thank your body for its wisdom and for showing this to you.

And now I'll invite you to slowly start to open your eyes,

Take in the room around you.

And the work of this meditation is not over because I invite you to get up and give self-care to your body like you would give a gift to a friend who you love,

Whatever your body needs.

Thank you.

Tunes you into yourself nearly instantly. Beautiful, simple, profound, and succinct. A short meditation that carries you straight to your centre. Her questions, cues and prompts were open ended yet brought my attention to exactly what needed to be unearthed. Thank you.

It’s a beautiful practice to stay in the body and it’s particularly helpful for me because I have a tendency to “escape” to my mind. Thank you so so very much 🙏
