
Releasing And Letting Go
This is a talk on Releasing and Letting Go. I include Affirmations and a meditation to give you a chance to reset and understand how to go within and find the inner strength needed to face these changing times.

Aloha,
I'm Reverend Cindy Palos and today I'm going to talk about attachments and letting go.
This is a subject that goes very,
Very deep and it's one that is a lifetime practice really.
I've been practicing for a lifetime and been studying of course in mysticism and Christianity and Buddhism and a lot of different paths that lead to hopefully evolvement and awareness and enlightenment.
But when you get into living it in a day to day way,
It can be very different than talking about it or reading about it.
And I have had over the last year so many chances,
Opportunities to experience this because life is a learning process as we know.
A year ago my sister passed on and then of course there were a lot of changes that came with COVID,
Things that were a certain way changed.
Things have changed here where I live on Maui.
A lot of people have been moving here that have a lot of money and have been buying up anything they can buy with homes.
A beautiful home I was living in was sold.
Even though I lived there for years,
I had to find a new place to live.
And the price of the new place was as much as for a small cottage,
A very small cottage,
Was the same as a lovely large home with a pool.
And then also my significant other had a heart attack and died,
Came back to life after 20 minutes and been through the process of getting back into living in that new way of thinking with a body that has to be healed.
So these things made me think a lot.
In fact,
I haven't posted a new talk here in a while because of the move,
You know,
I had to set up my new system,
Et cetera.
And I know this is all part of the learning process,
But it's a hard lesson.
Now,
According to the Dalai Lama,
Says Buddhist psychology,
Most of our troubles stem from the attachments to things that we mistakenly see as permanent.
And we know this,
Right?
I mean,
Nothing lasts forever.
Everything changes.
However,
We can get pretty comfortable with the situation when it's nice and when it's good.
And then when we see what's happening with the world and the problems of the world and what's going on,
We realize things can change at any single moment.
And they have for many,
Many people.
Now,
You know,
As far as letting go,
Boy,
It's interesting.
Most people,
When they talk about letting go,
Are looking at letting go of relationships to people.
I did some search on Google and quotes and almost all of the quotes are about letting go of relationships,
Which I can understand.
Sometimes you can really be in a situation where you feel secure and good and that things change and you can't let go,
Which is a very big lesson in itself.
Thich Nhat Hanh said,
Attachment to views is the greatest impediment to the spiritual path.
Now,
That is another form of attachment,
Which we don't look at that often.
But when we feel insecure in a world that is changing and our minds not necessarily for the past,
We want to hold on.
We want to have some security.
But again,
Going back to Buddha,
Buddha said,
You only lose what you cling to.
And Sting said from the police,
If you love somebody,
Set them free.
So these are all parts of the learning lesson that is a lot easier to talk about than to live.
So what do we do when we're faced with major changes in our life,
Major situations that make us have to let go?
We have to go back to that spiritual toolbox and to what we know inside is true.
And we have to find that inner place,
That inner place where we know we have a connection to our self,
Our soul,
Our strength,
To God,
To the Creator,
To the one source,
And find that place within that is always going to be there,
Regardless of whatever else changes in our lives.
Even if we have to drop the body and move on,
That will be there.
And it's always there for us.
And strangely enough,
Many,
Many people who are going through hard times and changes and lessons and losing loved ones and losing a lot of things in their life,
That's the time.
That's the time when they really stop and need to go within and find that place,
That place inside where you can connect with yourself and pray and find that inner strength,
Which is the greatest power,
That spirit inside you that's always there.
So I'm going to do some affirmations here,
Spiritual affirmations,
A prayer,
And a little bit of a meditation on letting go right now.
And we can delve into this energy where we can stop and go inside and find that place inside that will give us the strength to face what we have to face when we have to let go of our attachments.
Affirmation for letting go.
I can let go of whatever needs to be released.
I am free to let go of any old beliefs that may be holding me back from achieving my true purpose in life.
I breathe in the spirit of God's loving power to achieve what I need to achieve.
I know God supports me with infinite love.
I thank God for the power to let go with ease and peace.
And so it is.
Prayer for letting go.
God,
I know I hold on tight.
Help me to let go of what can be and should be released.
Let me see why I am holding on and what I am holding onto that keep me a prisoner of my old beliefs.
Can I inhabit emptiness?
Can I embrace that space of not meeting the needs of what I think needs to be replaced?
Can I let go of those old crutches so I can walk away?
Lord,
You are here with me right now in the spirit of every breath that I take.
And you will catch me if I fall.
And you are present when I'm ready to awaken.
I trust that when I choose to let go of all I don't need,
That I will find more ways to see the true gifts awaiting to be received.
It is here.
It is now.
God's great cosmic reality.
The face of Christ's light that dances throughout all space through eternity.
And I thank you,
Lord,
For your energy that merges with spirit that allows me to find a new way to be delivered forth as a rebirth of eternal light divine.
So I let go of all that holds me from becoming what I want to be.
And Lord,
I know you are right here waiting for me to choose to be free.
Meditation on letting go.
Breathe in that breath of light.
Breathe in deeply and let go as you breathe out.
Continue to breathe in light.
Hold for a second and then release everything that may be ready to be let go of.
Breathing in,
Being aware of the breath out,
Breathing totally out.
Feel your breath deeper and deeper and deeper within.
Go to that place where you can connect with that light of God.
Go there into your soul.
Breathing in,
Breathing in,
Breathing out and letting go and let go of all thoughts,
Any worries or concerns.
Just let it all go right now and ask yourself,
What am I holding onto?
Where does my mind get blocked?
What do I cling to?
Breathe in a state of peace and clarity.
Breathing in deeply,
Holding that clarity and releasing any of the darkness that needs to be released right now.
And know that you can be in this sacred space where the presence is.
Feel that presence completely energizing you.
Go to the place of your soul in the objective observer and see anything that you're holding onto that is not serving you.
See it disappearing before you.
Know that all illusions can be released into the light and that you are ready and able to face that light.
Breathe in that light and clarity and know you have that strength and power to let go.
Come out of meditation now and perhaps you'd like to write down anything that came to you,
Any messages.
