To meditate is to inquire into each corner of life.
Our life has inherited a lot from tradition,
From language,
From culture,
From the environment.
All those things have been passed on to us,
But we rarely examine it.
For example,
For the language itself,
We rarely pay attention to how to use the language properly.
When one says,
Oh,
It is superstitious,
The incentive behind this can be very different.
Maybe it's just a statement.
Maybe it's something one is condemning.
When one condemns it,
One says,
That is superstitious.
Actually one assumes that there's something not superstitious.
In that very way of using that language,
It creates a division between superstitious and not superstitious.
Sometimes we ask oneself,
Is one oneself not superstitious?
For most people,
The meaning of superstitious is simply passed on to them.
People rarely examine what is the meaning of being superstitious.
How can one be not superstitious?
This question is part of the inquiry into the mind.
We are living in thoughts.
Living in thoughts implies that we have already assumed something.
What's the difference between the assumption and the superstition?
Going into this,
Which is not focused on the verbal level,
But the real meaning behind it is to reveal the way of our using language,
Which is full of duality,
Divisions,
Contradictions.
If we keep using the language in this way in our life,
Talking with different people,
Can I imagine how many divisions we have created?
All kinds of different opinions,
Different views,
Which are contradicting each other,
Is all to this duality.
The mind is into the conflict,
Bringing about all kinds of stress in relationship,
In the conversation,
In the workplace,
At school,
Everywhere.
Inquiring into this,
The duality in the language,
It overthrows in the way we are using the language,
It's part of meditation.
