This talk is a meditation practice. What one needs to do is listen attentively, without getting stuck in words, examine the mind in silence, no agree or disagree, just look at the mind as it is. Doing so is already a meditation practice. **Note: If the mind is not really peaceful now, it might not be a perfect moment to listen to this podcast, be aware of the emotions or reactions. To mediate is to live a life without any comparing.

Comparison implies division,

Division between you and me,

So we can compare.

I compare myself against you.

I want to outperform you.

Such division inevitably leads to conflict.

Comparison enhances the self,

The ego,

Which is a concept,

A fragment of the mind.

It's up to everybody to observe this in life,

From the daily conversation,

To observe the tendency of the mind to compare on all kinds of total ways.

To see the consequence on you,

To see how the self is triggered,

So the mind becomes turbulent,

Conflicted.

To see how easy the mind begins to compare,

When the mind is hearing a different name or different things.

To notice this tendency at each situation of the life.

Various division between you and me.

The self wants to seek pleasure from comparison.

I want to compare fearfully against you.

The mind is always seeking pleasure from the comparison,

Which inevitably incurs sorrow.

If one compares fearfully,

One feels great.

But if one compares unfearably,

One feels terrible.

It is very important to notice this problem of comparison mentally.

To see this situation,

If one seeks pleasure from comparison,

One will begin to compare more,

Incurring more issues.

It's a loop.

To meditate is to inquire,

Seriously,

Can I live a life without any comparison mentally,

Psychologically?

Can I live a life where there's no space at all for comparison,

So I am connected with everybody around me as human beings,

Not the divided concept you and me to compare,

To fight against,

To compete?

Can I really accept who am I at this moment without any comparison,

Not based on any standards?

If I follow some standards,

Some measurement,

I follow some authority,

Therefore I can't learn about myself.

How can one learn oneself based on the standards created by others?

There's nobody else than you can really understand yourself.

So to meditate is to see ourselves clearly,

Not through some standards,

Not through some authorities,

But see ourselves clearly as who we are.

That's to say,

To be really honest with the whole being.

That's also to say,

To live a life without the self.

Without this concept created by the disorder of the mind,

Therefore where there's no self,

There's no disorder.

When the mind is free from this disorder,

The mind is in contact with nature.

When we can enjoy each moment,

Enjoy the views around us,

The hustles and bustles of the city,

Open to this.

To meditate is to have no elemental resistance.

So the door of the heart is always open.

When it's transparent,

Everything can pass through.

Such a life is full of dynamics,

And such a life is beautiful.

It's beautifully simple,

And simply beautiful.
