Good morning.
As you slowly awaken and start becoming aware of your surroundings,
Let's take this precious moment,
The moment of transition between your delicious night's sleep and the bright new day that awaits you.
First,
Let's take the opportunity to notice.
Observe your body.
What do you feel?
What do you notice?
Maybe there's an eagerness to rise,
Or an anxiety or fear.
Maybe there's sensation of pain somewhere in your body.
Try to put just a few words to these areas,
These feelings or sensations.
Now let's start by taking a long,
Gentle breath.
Be mindful and follow that breath in through the nose,
Feeling coolness on the back of your throat,
Feeling your belly rise,
Your lungs expand.
Now hold that breath at the top and release through the mouth slowly,
Effortlessly and completely.
Simply being aware of your breath in this way is a great tool to anchor you and your thoughts into the present.
Let's have two more long,
Gentle breaths.
Inhale,
Hold at the top,
Exhale.
One more,
Inhale,
Hold at the top,
Exhale.
As we return to the normal pace of breathing,
Let's put your awareness at your feet.
Maybe feel into the toes a little bit or give them a wiggle.
You might even notice a warm sensation.
There's a saying in Chinese medicine,
Where the mind goes,
The chi or energy follows.
And with that,
Healing can occur.
Now let's start to move our awareness up,
Into the ankles.
Bringing that same warm sensation from the toes up.
And now bring your awareness into your lower legs,
Calves,
Into the knees,
Up through the hamstrings and thighs,
Into the pelvis.
And let's just pause here for one second.
You should be feeling an energy,
Maybe there's even a light pulse to it,
From the toes all the way to the tops of the hips.
Continuing on,
Let's bring the awareness into the abdomen,
With all the organs,
The liver,
The gallbladder,
Spleen,
Stomach,
Large intestine,
Small intestine.
And let's not forget about the back,
The whole low back region,
Where the kidneys live.
Bringing that awareness,
That energy all the way up into the rib cage.
Now into your chest,
Paying special attention to your heart and lungs.
And keep going into the shoulders,
Where we sometimes carry the weight of the world.
All the way down the arms,
Through the elbows,
Through the forearms,
And finally into the hands.
Maybe give your fingers a little wiggle.
And come back into the neck,
Of course not forgetting about the entire back and spine.
And finally,
Let's bring that energy up to the head,
Including the back of the head and your entire face.
Now let's end at the very top of the head,
At an acupuncture point called Bai Hui.
It's translated as Hundred Meetings,
And is commonly known as the place where a hundred meridians meet.
It's an extremely powerful point.
Let's take one last awareness throughout your whole body,
From toes to head,
And check in.
Is there any tightness?
Is there anything that needs a little stretch?
A wiggle?
Any tension that needs to be released?
Now that you're a little more awake,
Alert,
And possibly excited for this gorgeous day ahead of you,
Start to consider what you want your day to look like.
If you could literally create a road map,
Where will the day take you?
What do you want to inject into your day?
Maybe you'd like ease and effortlessness in your day.
Maybe you want to be more creative.
Or maybe you'd like to bring more laughter and love into your day.
Maybe you'd like to have more focus in the morning,
And looking forward to more relaxation in the evening.
Set up your day now.
Remember,
We are spiritual beings having a human experience.
You have the power to choose and create whatever you want for your day.
One last breath in,
And exhale.
Welcome to your beautiful day.
Laughter lifts the corners of your mouth,
Trust that,
Rumi.
