Reaching for the stars.
Welcome to this practice.
Today we are going to explore a more poetic style of meditation,
And storytelling style,
Really.
The idea of it is not to represent an actual factual account of what happened in the history of the universe and the future of our souls,
But rather to use it as an exercise,
A poetic exercise that can expand our mind and getting us to reflect on our timeline in a new way.
So we are going to begin by just coming to close our eyes,
Connecting with our breath,
Finding a comfortable position.
Just feel that for this moment we can really leave the day behind,
Everything we've experienced,
And just relax,
Just exhale into this moment.
And the story as it unfolds.
And with your eyes closed now,
Just invite you to imagine the beginning of the universe.
The beginning point.
There's a great silence here.
There's a great potential and sense of becoming.
There's a great presence and desire for exploration.
And out of this desire,
Out of this curiosity,
Spark the first stars.
A concentration of energy pouring out,
Hustling,
Bustling,
And exploding into star systems.
And just breathing with this feeling that you and that same desire for curiosity within you can breathe out and map a whole galaxy of stars in action.
Outward expansion.
And with time this initial excitement begins to cool.
Calling down this very physical universe of electrons,
Protons,
Begins to kind of slow down,
Allow for more stable structures to emerge.
And out of this a greater variety,
A chemistry of things.
And tapping back into that same universal curiosity,
Breathe it in with me now.
This chemistry begins to explore,
Interact,
Form new compounds and complex structures.
New reactions crystallizing into solid rocks,
Molten dreams,
Planets forming around these star systems and cooling fragments of the explosive origin.
And just feel into this complexity without diving into one aspect or another,
But just feeling this overarching complexification and interaction of elements.
And shifting your awareness now into one particular star,
Not burning too brightly,
But just enough that around it is a planet,
A planet we call Earth,
Our home.
And on this planet these chemical compounds now presenting the right conditions for biological life to emerge,
Single-celled organisms with that same desire,
Multiplying cell by cell,
Replicating,
Initiating,
Iterating life as it is.
And in distant corners of this great ocean on the planet,
Slight differences in this complexification new systems or differing systems emerge.
And for some time they're separated by geographies,
By currents,
By winds.
And as you breathe with each breath and passing of time,
They come to me again,
More novelty born up within this contrast.
These organisms begin to develop a new interest to sense,
Perceive,
Spatially explore,
Bond and multiply into fish-like creatures swimming,
Dominating the oceans,
Celebrating diversity and breathe with me as a fish swimming through this ocean,
Feeling the ebb and flow,
Participating in this game of evolutionary purpose.
You see other all types of surprising entities and organisms around you.
And as you breathe,
Really let your imagination play in what kind of exotic fusions do emerge for you here.
Life manifests in its many forms.
Another couple of breaths and time passes by.
A new curiosity emerges,
The seas have been conquered and so the next frontier is the land.
What novelty and newness can these terrains give to us and our alchemy of being?
And so with this question and curiosity,
We rise up to take our first breath of air upon the land,
The first breath of air for many more generations to come.
Breathe with me as we inject speed into this universal picture unfolding all types of forms with the same gusto looking to conquer the air,
Snaking across the land and developing all types of new communication mechanisms with our fellow creatures,
With our ecosystem,
A new planet of abundance and life unfolding.
And continue to breathe streaming forward into those first mammals,
Those warm blooded creatures surrounded by community,
Faced with challenge,
Communication,
Hardship and causing ingenuity to rise up,
Causing innovation of tools,
Of using our environment,
Bridging the gap,
Pouring our resourcefulness into coaxing and manufacturing these brushes,
Spears,
Decorative objects,
All that would define and make up a culture,
An era of ritual,
The need to dance,
Sharing this time around the fire and look,
A new culture,
A new ambition,
A humanity rising up.
As apes,
Our neocortex,
These lobes in the brain beginning to expand,
Interact and connect information like it hadn't been before.
Reading our environment so cunningly we're able to conquer a diversity of terrains moving our way up and out through the heart of Africa,
The cradle of humankind into Europe and the Asia's.
Inhabiting this land we've learned so much and we take the journey further,
Crossing the ice bridge into the Americas and following through,
Following through Australia,
Indonesia and the far islands of Polynesia now inhabited by such a diverse range of humanity.
And slowly with time comes an ambition to settle,
To experiment a new way of life where we're not so much on the move.
We're concentrating our efforts in the refinement of skills,
The development and systems,
The efficiency and orchestration of a culture society,
Building empires,
Mathematics and more complex technologies were able to even come to the point where we study the atom,
Where we send man to the moon and establish flight into the starry night.
And out here we're able to circulate and see our earth as one.
We look back down,
We see all societies in a race against time,
In competition with each other,
In unity as well.
And it's that unity that's realised through this global picture,
Through seeing our seas as one,
Our lands as interconnected,
Our human populations as arising from the same origin.
And we sit here in our space shuttle gazing at this great silence,
This great one of a planet and its creatures.
And the time comes for change again.
Through our noticing we see that our sun only has a finite lifetime,
A couple of billion years before the life on this planet,
Our human species can no longer live here,
Will be obliterated by its explosion.
And so with this need for survival and the grace of innovating,
We set out to explore intergalactically,
Coming back down to earth,
Regathering resources and making way for the final flight.
We gather all that we can for a long voyage,
All that brings us remembrance of what it means to be us and human,
Saying our goodbyes to some of our fellows and gathering information,
DNA,
Technologically stored data that could last an epoch.
And venture forwards we do,
Taking flight into space,
Our planet now,
A blinkering,
Flickering dot in the night sky.
All the possibilities are here,
Great risk to be perceived that something compelling us forwards just like that first breath in new land.
We take a new breath here,
Breathe with me.
And in that silence,
In that calmness that comes about in this great vast night sky,
We hear a voice,
Like a voice in the future,
Like a communication with something beyond.
And it is this that feels most like evolution to us,
Most like union and therefore informs our action motivating us forwards.
We fly towards the voice,
Coming closer to her,
Congregation,
Densification of matter,
Like all time and space,
Like all happening,
Being compressed,
That we feel drawn towards it.
Are we ready to let go of everything?
Are we ready to surrender what feels like the pinnacle of our evolution and time to this moment,
To this compression?
Taking a breath,
We feel compelled to proceed and breathe with me,
Slowly entering this black hole.
We've been through many experiences like this before.
We've practiced death a million times.
We know it in the roots and the DNA of our universal evolution,
That life comes with its counterpart.
Our religions,
Our thought leaders,
Our intimations telling us there is something beyond.
And so now the time to experiment it.
We let go and our ship,
Thrusted into this stream,
Ignited,
Brightened.
And it's now not so much that we're moving even forwards,
But a true momentum within,
The ultimate compression imaginable coming into the roots of our body and our soul.
And just do it with me now,
Letting it go and filling up with this great light,
Pure information,
Pure being.
Exhale.
We arrive into a new kind of space,
Silent,
Connected,
Universal in its nature.
In this space,
We see in front of us,
Beholding the tapestry of time.
A reminder that we've always been here,
That we've always had a choice to live and die for what we believe in.
To act,
Interact as universal evolution,
As the ambition of the human spirit,
As a co-creator with life.
And so with that fascination,
We decide to just plant a seed in this tapestry,
A dream so deep that only you know,
That out of it can grow an entire lifetime.
And so in this,
The cycle is complete.
We see ourselves one and all,
Seeding the dream of life,
Living the dream of life,
And coming to know what that means.
Coming to know what it means to reach for the stars.
Thank you.
Namaste.
