Here's a simple question.
Just see how it makes you feel.
However you feel is okay.
What if there was nothing wrong with you?
What if most deeply,
There was nothing at all wrong with you?
Maybe you hear this and take it in and you're like,
Yeah,
I just,
That's true.
And that's great.
You could celebrate that.
Or maybe you hear it and there is some resistance to it.
What if there was nothing wrong with you?
Many of us are set out on some sort of journey of completing ourselves or fixing ourselves.
To use a term from Carl Rogers,
We learn certain conditions of worth from a young age.
That you must be this way in order to be worthy.
Worthy of love,
Worthy of acceptance,
Worthy of existence.
Certain conditions,
You must be this way,
You must not be this way.
Shoulds is another term for it.
But what if those conditions were ultimately untrue?
Going all the way back to the point at which you were born,
Of course,
There's nothing wrong with you.
And on a certain level,
You are a perfect expression of the universe just exactly as you are.
I would say this is mainly what I'm attempting to do with the individual clients that I work with,
At least for me.
There's nothing wrong with you.
And there might be things that you want to work on or fix,
But there's nothing you have to work on or fix for me.
And maybe by being with me for long enough,
And if they feel that's genuine from me,
They might start to really believe it about themselves.
Oh,
Maybe there is nothing and was never anything actually wrong with me.
Change is everything.
Doesn't mean that you stop trying to work on things or evolve things or improve things,
But you can do so less from a place of there's something wrong with me that I need to fix because the more I work on that,
The more I might be reinforcing the notion that there is something wrong with me.
When there never actually was.
And it's helpful,
I think,
To go all the way back to the point at which you were born.
And of course there was nothing wrong with you.
So if it feels like there is,
Maybe you could look for where did that.
When?
When did it happen?
When did there become something that was wrong with me?
And what if,
Most deeply,
There is nothing wrong with you?
