There's an old saying that comes from the world of Daoism.
That goes like this.
Let your eyes see whatever they want to see.
Let your ears hear.
Whatever they want to hear.
Let your body feel whatever it wants to feel.
And let your mind think whatever it wants to think.
So here we'll focus on that last one just for a minute or so.
Maybe first of all,
You could just take a moment to let your eyes see whatever they want to see.
Let your ears hear whatever they want to hear without doing anything about it,
Judging it,
Interpreting it,
Even labeling it,
Hearing the sound of my voice without making sense of it.
You don't have to.
Let your body feel whatever it wants to feel.
And now we'll take a moment to let the mind think whatever it wants to think,
Which is a form of inner reverse psychology.
Genuinely letting the mind think whatever it wants and that's like dropping the rope in tug-of-war.
We'll see what happens.
So it might help to allow your eyes to close just for a moment.
This will just be maybe a minute.
Take a couple of deep breaths.
If that might just feel nice.
And allow the body to relax however it can or however it might like to.
And then just imagine your mind.
As a stage.
The stage of consciousness.
All things happen on this stage,
Sounds,
Sights,
Feelings,
Sensations.
And thoughts.
And here we will focus on thoughts.
So just imagining the stage of consciousness.
And clearing the stage for now.
So imagining this empty stage.
That is your mind.
And then just inviting.
To come out onto the stage in whatever way it wants to.
So at first,
Let's just see if we can become aware of the next thought.
Inviting the next thought to come out onto the stage of consciousness.
And just seeing what happens.
Now let's do it one more time,
Just taking a deep breath,
Inhale.
And exhale,
And this is like clearing the stage,
Whatever it was like for you.
And then we'll invite another thought,
One more thought.
But here I would like you to really pay attention to what thought is,
The quality of thought.
Not necessarily the content itself,
But just what thought came to mind.
Dislike for you.
So now,
Inviting the next thought.
Whatever it's like.
To come out onto the stage of consciousness.
Okay.
Might just take a couple more deep breaths if that feels right.
And allow the body to relax,
Release again.
However it can.
And then if your eyes were closed,
Just allowing them to open.
Whenever the time feels right.
So I'm curious what that was like for you,
However it was.
If you want to leave a comment,
I'd be really interested to hear.
What can happen sometimes is thoughts will just kind of stop.
When you shine a light on them in that way and you say,
Okay,
Thought,
Do whatever you want to do.
Genuinely think whatever you want to think.
Sometimes the thoughts will find it a little bit less interesting.
To play,
So.
Experiment with that,
Shining a light on thought,
Genuinely allowing it to come out onto the stage of consciousness.
And just seeing what happens.
And if you like,
You might remember that.
Let the eyes see whatever they want to see,
The ears hear whatever they want to hear,
The body feel whatever it wants to feel,
And the mind think whatever it wants to think.
