Come to sit in a cross-legged position with a straight spine.
Press the chin back slightly to align the head just over the spine.
Bring your thumbs to the mercury mound,
Which is at the base of the pinky finger.
And then your hands meet in a prayer-like pose in the front of the chest.
Your forearms will form a straight line parallel to the floor.
Press your fingers of opposite hands together from fingertip to the first knuckle.
The thumb knuckles will press together.
Press quite hard.
You're going to inhale in eight equal sniffs,
Exhaling completely through the mouth with pursed lips,
Almost as a whistle.
Eyes are nine-tenths closed,
Just allowing a little bit of light in and looking at the tip of the nose.
Continuing with these eight sniffs in and exhaling slowly through the mouth through pursed lips.
If you'd like to add a mantra to count the breath in,
You can silently repeat to yourself,
Sa-ta-na-ma,
Sa-ta-na-ma,
And then exhale.
We'll continue here for several minutes at your own pace.
Take a deep inhale.
Suspend the breath.
Press the fingertips together.
Perfect the pose.
Hold the breath.
And exhale.
Relax the pose.
Blink your eyes open.
Sat Nam.
