At times, thoughts can feel trapped—bouncing around the brain as if they are trapped in a sealed room. In this meditation, allow the edges of the mind to soften, gently freeing any rattling thoughts that feel caged or confined. Melt into the vastness of awareness, where emotions arise like fireworks—brief bursts of light in a limitless sky. Begin to perceive the mind, not as a confined house of thoughts and feelings, but as an open, porous field—vast, free, and alive.

Begin this meditation by noticing the weight of your brain.

Be playful here.

Or use your imagination to feel the density of this.

And for the purposes of this meditation,

Again,

In the name of play,

Imagine that whatever thought forms are here right now,

Imagine that they're trapped inside the brain.

Imagine that the brain is this dense,

Solid,

Heavy thing.

And that thought forms are caught inside this heavy thing,

Bouncing around,

Locked in,

Trapped.

So many of our emotions are simply reactions to specific thoughts.

So now see your emotions as trapped inside this brain as well,

Bouncing around as if trying to get out.

Our sensations are intimately connected to thought forms and to emotions.

Visualize sensation as inside the brain,

Even though you might have,

For example,

Tightness in the chest.

Just for the sake of this contemplation,

Visualize that tightness,

That constriction in the brain.

You might still feel sensation in the chest,

But intentionally draw that tightness into the brain,

Because that's where you might be thinking about the tightness,

Again,

For the purposes of this meditation,

For this image of things being trapped in the brain.

And now bring your attention to what you think of as the boundaries of the brain.

Feel the front of the brain,

The back of the brain,

The top,

The sides.

And very gently begin to allow this border,

The edges of the brain to soften,

So the boundaries of the brain are melting.

And as these boundaries melt,

Feel these thoughts that have been rattling around as if inside a cage.

Feel these thoughts being freed.

Feel your emotions being freed,

No longer trapped inside the walls of the body.

Feel sensation freed.

Any thoughts you may have about constriction in the body,

Liberate it.

Perceive the brain not as a confined house for thoughts,

Emotion.

Feel the brain as open,

Porous,

Vast.

Feel now the lifespan of a thought in the vastness of the universe.

Such a tiny flicker in the vastness of being.

Feel your emotions like little fireworks in an open sky,

Bursts of light that fade back into openness.

A firework locked inside a prison is a bomb.

A firework in the vastness of the sky is an entirely different experience.

Let your emotions feel into that now.

Rest in this freedom,

Free.

Emotions,

Free.

Sensations,

Free.

Rest in this freedom,

As this freedom.

Thank you.
