Forgiveness is something you do for yourself, not the other person. Forgiveness is to free yourself. There are 3 parts in this guided practice to gradually lead you to let go of any old wounds inside. The background music, 'Harmony Across Earth' by Chris Collins (ft. Carmen Ng), contains binaural delta waves which helps you immerse in a deep meditative state. Please use headphones for better concentration and audio expereicne.

Forgiveness is something you do for yourself,

Not the other person.

Forgiveness is to free yourself.

Let's open our heart and heal our old wounds.

It's time to stop hurting yourself.

Please relax your shoulders,

Relax your eyebrows.

Let's take five deep breaths to calm down.

Breathe in through the nose,

Breathe out through your mouth.

Now we return to normal breathing for two minutes.

Breathe in and out through your nose.

Breathe in and out through your nose.

Breathe in and out through your nose.

Breathe in and out through your nose.

Breathe in and out through your nose.

Breathe in and out through your nose.

Breathe in and out through your nose.

Forgiving someone doesn't mean that you do not think about the situation anymore.

Instead,

You pull yourself away from it.

Free yourself from the story or labeling that you have created between you and the person.

To do this,

The first step is to forgive yourself.

Forgive yourself for allowing yourself to get into such a situation.

Please repeat after me the following affirmations.

I forgive myself.

I did the best I could under the circumstances presented to me.

I forgive myself.

I am a good person.

Sometimes I might have hurt others with my words or actions.

But I'm willing to be a better person and move on.

I forgive myself.

The past is the past.

There's nothing I can do to change it.

I'm willing to turn over a new leaf and start again.

I forgive myself.

Every day I've been working hard.

Every day I live life to the full.

I'm proud of myself.

I love myself.

Please continue to breathe slowly.

Relax your shoulders,

Relax your facial expressions.

Now the second step.

Let's get out of the narrow view of the situation and take a bird-eye view of things.

Think of what this person has done to you and got on your nerves.

Go deeper to understanding the spiritual aspects of the situation.

How did he or she change your perspectives on things?

Did he or she inspire you to take any actions as a result?

What have you gained from the experience?

Did you get to know yourself better because of him or her?

Spend some time to think about it.

Breathe slowly.

Shoulders down.

Relax your facial expressions.

Finally we get to the core of this practice.

Let's work to bridge the gap between you and the person.

Understand that everyone is trying hard to be good,

Going through each day,

Trying to lead a good life.

He or she came to the earth this time around.

It could be the first time to be your parent,

The first time to be your partner,

Your sibling,

Your friend,

Co-worker.

No one knows what tomorrow will bring.

Every minute,

Every second,

Everyone is taking each step by trial and error.

Can you see that?

We are all doing the same thing.

We are the same.

Now we are going to play a game called Just Like Me.

We'll make three sentences together.

I'll start by saying,

Just like me and you finish the line.

For example,

I say,

Just like me and you say,

Just like me,

She doesn't know how to handle your relationships.

That's it,

Easy.

So let's begin.

The first sentence.

Just like me.

The second sentence.

The last sentence.

Just like me.

Very good.

Let's take one final slow deep breath.

Notice the air coming in through your nose all the way down into your belly.

Exhale through your mouth.

Breathe out tension.

Without all negative energies that no longer serve you.

We can't give what we don't have.

In the same way,

We can forgive others once we forgive ourselves.

And that results in healing and peace.

Namaste.

Wow. The "Just Like Me" part moved me back into living relationship with the person I was angry with. Thank you so so much for these perspective shifts.

Thank you for creating this particular meditation. It’s something I was thinking about today and yesterday. After 3 years of separation I’ve decided to block my ex boyfriend and his wife and all the other people that have hurt me. Not because I cannot forgive them but because I already have forgiven them and I am in good terms with them and I love them. But the honest truth is I never really forgave myself for allowing those experiences I had with them when I got extremely hurt that it took me 3 years or more to learn how to heal and love myself deeper and whole heartedly. I just finally have the courage to cut out what no longer serves me, even if I have love for it doesn’t mean it has to be part of my life today. So thank you for creating a meditation to remind me that I am on the right path of my healing.
