Greetings fellow wanderers.
Today,
Allow me to guide you through a walking meditation,
A practice that roots you in the present moment and brings you closer to the natural world and leaving all your worries behind.
Before you start,
Find a safe place where you can walk and feel comfortable.
Stand still and take a deep breath,
Closing your eyes if that helps you to find inner stillness.
Feel your feet connecting to the earth,
Knowing that it is stable and supportive.
Take in another deep breath,
This time feeling the air around you,
Smelling the fresh or soothing scents coming from nature.
Listen to the wind through the trees,
Perhaps some traffic and some people laughing,
Or other signs that life is happening all around you.
Start walking slowly,
Feeling the sensation of the earth under your feet,
The gentle breeze on your skin,
And the space around and within you.
Feel your muscles engage,
The bones carrying you forward,
And the breath breathing you.
Begin to let go of any worries,
Judgments,
Distractions,
And immerse yourself fully in the present moment.
As you continue walking,
Become aware of how each part of your body moves and works together to create this dance.
Feel your feet pushing off of the ground,
Your ankles and your knees bending and straightening,
Your hips and your pelvis swaying,
Your spine elongating,
Your shoulders and your arms swinging,
And your neck and your head.
Appreciate the miracle of your body,
Its strength,
Flexibility,
Its resilience,
And adaptability.
Allow your breath to settle into a consistent rhythm,
Syncing with your body and with the energy of the world around you.
If your mind wanders,
Just gently bring it back to the sensation of your body walking,
The sounds of nature,
And the beauty of your environment.
Have you been to this place before?
Is it a trusty and familiar path?
Or have you ventured to a new part of your world?
What's new here?
Notice the colors,
The textures,
The shapes around you,
The trees,
The flowers,
The rocks,
Clouds,
The sun,
The sky.
As you connect more deeply to the natural world,
What worry feels heavy to carry?
Identify it and give it a name.
Now let it go and allow your feet to carry you forward.
Notice that worrying fading away with each footstep.
Your step becomes lighter and your pace just a little easier.
This is a worry that doesn't serve you.
Let it dissolve into the air around you.
Each step frees you from this worry and creates space for peace and joy.
You are able to feel a sense of joy and calmness that fills your entire being as you allow yourself to become present fully in this moment.
Feel the happiness and contentment that comes with letting go of your worry and just connect to the world around you.
Travel as far as you'd like today,
Taking in the nature around you,
Feeling your body move through time and space,
Connecting to the earth as you follow your path.
And if your mind wanders as it tends to do,
Just bring it back to your body,
Back to your feet,
Back to your ankles,
Back to your knees and hips and pelvis,
Back to your back and your shoulders and your head.
Thank you for joining me on this guided walking meditation.
May you continue to feel at ease and at one with the natural world around you.
