Are you a nurturer?
Constantly caring for others?
Looking out for the vulnerable?
Speaking up for the voiceless?
Fending for the overlooked?
I commend you.
It's admirable to be the person who cares.
The one who is always there.
The listening ear.
The shoulder to cry on.
The defender of justice.
But who is looking out for you?
Between looking out for them,
Make sure you look out for you too.
For this meditation,
Allow your mind to ease of all the thoughts.
Of all the tasks you must accomplish for others.
Let your body relax.
Ease your shoulders from the ready position to lean on.
And allow them to be in the vulnerable position to accept help.
Ask yourself the question you often ask to others.
How can I help?
What do you need?
And listen.
Like you often do for others.
Listen to yourself.
Take a moment for your body to respond.
For your body to answer the call.
And now that you know what you need,
Respond.
You've likely heard the saying,
Don't set yourself on fire to keep others warm.
Take it to heart.
Your body has responded.
You know what you need.
Before you put the life vest on someone else,
Make sure you won't sink.
Take care of you.
Make sure you won't sink.
Take care of you and don't consider it selfish.
Because if you can show up your full self with an abundance of joy,
Good health,
And sound mind,
You are in a better position to help someone else.
So go.
Take what you've heard today and give yourself what you need.
Thank you.
