Hello my loves,
My name is Chris and welcome back to another guided meditation.
In today's practice we'll go over a fun breathing technique called Lion's Breath.
Lion's Breath,
Also known as Simhasana,
Is a powerful breathing exercise that offers numerous physical,
Mental,
And energetic benefits.
This practice helps to release tension,
Especially in the face and the throat,
And it can help to stimulate the throat chakra,
Enhancing communication and self-expression.
By engaging in Lion's Breath,
You can ignite a sense of courage and strength within,
Tapping into your power and your confidence.
This breath work also helps in detoxifying the body,
Promoting a feeling of lightness and clarity.
Before we begin,
Let's find a comfortable seated position,
Either cross-legged,
Kneeling,
Or on a seat,
And then just take a moment to settle in and let's prepare to unleash that roar within.
So in your comfortable seated position,
Allow your hands to just rest on your knees and close your eyes and take a few deep breaths,
Allowing yourself to settle into the present moment.
Allow the spine to lengthen,
Reaching the crown of your head towards the sky,
The tailbone towards the ground.
Allow the shoulders to melt down and away from the ears.
The jaw can soften.
Feel grounded and supported by the earth beneath you.
Start to bring your awareness to your breath and just notice the natural rhythm of your inhalation and your exhalation.
Take a deep breath in through your nose and then gently sigh it out through your mouth.
Let's repeat this two more times.
Deep breath in and sigh it out.
One more time.
Deep breath in and then sigh it out.
Now let's begin our practice of lion's breath.
We'll begin by inhaling deeply through your nose,
Filling the lungs completely,
And as you exhale open your mouth wide and stick out the tongue,
Making a ha sound,
Allowing yourself to exhale that breath fully.
Let's try that all together.
We'll inhale deeply through the nose and as you exhale make that ha sound,
Opening the mouth and sticking the tongue out.
Feel the power and the energy as you release the breath.
Let's do this one more time.
Deep breath in and then open the mouth,
Stick out the tongue,
Make that ha sound.
Continue breathing this way for several rounds.
Inhaling deeply through the nose and exhaling,
Making that ha sound,
Opening the mouth,
Sticking the tongue out.
As you continue to practice this lion's breath,
Maybe you can imagine yourself embodying the strength and the courage of a lion.
Maybe you can feel the powerful energy rising within you with each inhale and exhale,
Letting go of any of your fears or your doubts,
And just embracing that inner lion.
Let's begin to come to our last few rounds of our lion's breath.
As we return to our natural breathing pattern,
Allow yourself to close the mouth and then just breathe softly in and out through the nose,
Noticing any sensations in the body,
The mind,
Maybe the tingling of energy,
That sense of release.
Take a quick moment here just to reflect on how you might feel.
Notice any shifts in your energy,
In your mind,
Your body,
Any sense of lightness or empowerment.
Allow these feelings to integrate and become a part of you.
Whenever you're ready,
Maybe you can bring your hands to prayer at heart center,
Taking a moment to thank yourself for showing up and engaging in this powerful practice,
Allowing yourself to maybe carry this energy and the strength and courage of your own inner lion with you throughout your day or throughout your week.
Now let's just bow our heads to the great wise teacher that resides in each and every one of us,
Thanking you all truly for coming and sharing this practice.
Namaste.
Love you all.
