Hi,
This is Brooks,
And hi to wherever you are out there in the world.
I was thinking about,
I was thinking about today.
It's really nice to have a day.
I mean,
Regardless of what I'm doing,
It's just so nice to have the day.
I mean,
Really,
That just means I'm here.
I'm here in this moment,
And there's something really nice about it.
Even though my stomach's a little upset.
Yeah,
But that's something that comes and goes.
There's still the day,
And I don't know what it's going to bring.
I imagine different things,
But life has a way of surprising me,
So it's a lot easier just to not imagine,
Just to be here in my day.
That was given to me.
When I woke up this morning,
The day was here for me.
And so right now I'm talking to you in this day,
And you have your day too,
And you happen to be listening to me in your day.
So our days are coinciding.
Really,
It's nice to be alive.
I think that's what it is.
I like to think of being alive as like the underlying,
The underlying-ness of whatever it is that's going on.
It's like there's a movie that's playing on the screen,
So the screen is like the day,
And all these things occur within.
The movie occurs within that screen,
So I'm grateful for it.
It helps me a lot because it keeps me from like,
Oh,
Am I using the day properly?
Am I peeing the best Brooks I can and all that kind of BS?
Because the day itself doesn't require anything from me.
It was a gift.
It was given to me when I woke up,
So here's the day.
It's like when I was a kid and my parents would give me like $5 for my birthday.
If they didn't care,
I'd spend it.
I'm sure it all went to candy,
You know.
That's what a kid does,
You know.
So when I woke up this morning and here was the day,
I'm sure the day was not going like,
All right,
These are the 17 things I want you to spend on the day that I gave you,
And you better do them,
And you better do them right.
They're like,
There's none of that.
There was,
Here's the day.
Have fun or whatever,
Whatever you do.
My experience has been in the past that when the day comes to an end and I go to sleep,
The day seems to have gotten pleasure out of giving me the day.
There's no assessment at the end of the day.
It's like,
Oh,
I'm glad you enjoyed it,
Or whatever.
There are no qualifications on it,
Which makes going to sleep really easy.
Like,
Oh,
That was nice to have a day.
I'm going to go to sleep and it's all going to disappear.
And maybe,
Maybe I'll have another day tomorrow.
We'll see.
I think it might have taken some time to get through this way of seeing things.
I mean,
There was definitely times in the past where I'd be like,
I have a list of things to do,
And if I didn't do them,
I might be upset.
I could have done better.
Like,
How many times can you eat something that doesn't taste good?
Right?
How many times can you take a bite of something that tastes sour or tastes off?
It's just a lot easier and a lot nicer to be in the day.
Whatever.
Whatever happens in it.
And I know life is not a one-sided coin.
My experience is life seems to be half pleasure,
Half pain.
Because of the variety of things that happen in life,
Some of the things are going to feel good and some of them are going to hurt,
In one way or another.
So that makes it easier,
Too,
To just be,
All right,
Here's the day.
Let's see what happens.
And there's something about the ease and the relaxation of that for me that helps me enjoy my day.
Helps me to think more clearly and enjoy the experience.
So that's what I wanted to share in this moment in my day.
And I'll go on to the next thing that's going to happen today.
And I hope your day,
I hope you get to enjoy your day,
Whatever you do.
Whatever you do.
And if you don't enjoy it,
You still got the day and you're alive.
That happens sometimes,
Too.
There's no pressure.
I think it's good to not have pressure to enjoy yourself.
That just means if you're not enjoying yourself,
Then you get upset yourself for not enjoying yourself.
Sometimes things don't feel good.
So it's like,
All right.
So whatever happens today,
I don't have the rest of the sentence.
It's just whatever happens.
Take care.
Bye.
