Hey friend,
Welcome to my May meditation.
My name is Brooke Lorimer.
I am a life coach who deeply believes in the power of radical gentleness,
Which is what I would call being deeply kind to ourselves and where that can take us.
And this meditation coming out of ego and into self-love is inspired by the book There's Nothing Wrong With You by Sherry Huber.
I reread it recently and it's just chock full of wisdom about why self-love is kind of the answer to all of our icks,
Pains and quandaries.
So I wanted to create a meditation for you based on that.
Sherry states,
Those who feel completely loved aren't selfish,
They are loving.
So here's to where being loving takes us.
We often think it is egotistical to love ourselves,
That if we love ourselves,
We'll think about ourselves all the time and be self-obsessed.
But the opposite is true.
Self-love,
Self-respect frees us from hateful and self-obsessed thinking.
From the thoughts that might seem innocent like,
How do I look in these jeans?
Everyone's going to notice my belly.
Or you know,
Thoughts like,
Oh no,
Like,
What will everyone think of me if I do X,
Y,
Z?
These thoughts that are rooted in disliking ourselves that keep us spinning and spinning and spinning.
Instead,
Self-love actually makes us free.
It makes us free to be present with what is here right now in front of us,
With what,
With who is here right now in front of us.
I know that tapping into self-worth and self-love is a journey and not a one-time destination.
So please feel free to revisit this meditation anytime you need it.
Let's get started.
I'd like you to find yourself in a comfortable position,
Laying down or seated.
And as you start to settle in,
Just kind of like letting the weight of your bones and your muscles drop.
Feeling the gift of gravity working down on you,
Pushing you towards the earth.
And if you could be a little bit more physically comfortable right now,
Doing that.
Making those last micro adjustments and really coming into a comfortable,
Useful place in your body.
As your body fills with ease,
I want you to close your eyes.
Just kind of notice how you feel in this moment.
Notice the solitude that starts to form as you let yourself be comfortable in your body and close your eyes.
And we're just going to take a few breaths in this space right here.
As you continue to breathe with your eyes closed,
I want you to start to envision a pool in front of you.
Notice what size the pool is that you imagine.
It's circular,
Square,
Oval,
Maybe some fun organic shape.
Is it a deep,
Rich blue or a soft aqua?
Is it nighttime or daytime?
Just notice what happens when I ask you to envision a pool.
And then see yourself start to approach this pool.
Let the pool feel really inviting.
Like whatever pool you've imagined,
It is made especially for you and your joy and your comfort.
And as you get closer to the pool,
You notice there's something special about the water.
Maybe you can't put your finger on exactly what it is,
But you just know that water is so nourishing.
This is our pool of divine worthiness.
As you approach the pool,
See how you would get into the pool.
Notice the ladder or the stairs or the slide or the diving board.
How does your pool invite you into it?
Imagine yourself taking that way into the pool right now.
So walking in,
Cannonballing in,
Sliding in.
As you arrive in your pool of divine worthiness,
Notice that it feels like the water is both surrounding you and being absorbed by your skin.
Notice the feeling of worthiness filling you up.
Notice that as you spend time in this pool,
Your thoughts slow,
Your breath comes easy.
Find a few breaths here,
Soaking in the nutrients from your divine pool of worthiness.
See yourself fully at ease in this pool built just for you.
As you see your divine worthiness,
Deeply feeling soaked into your skin,
Start to feel that it's time to take this sense of divine worthiness back home with you.
Starting to envision your way out of the pool,
Up the stairs or the ladder or whatever creative way out of the pool feels right to you.
Starting to ascend.
As you ascend,
You notice that you feel differently than when you entered and that you get to take that self-love back with you.
And as we leave,
We're just going to say a little thank you to the pool of divine worthiness for being there for us.
Just know that this space is always there for us to tap into.
Now slowly coming back into your body,
Noticing any sensations in your body that feel kind of alive right now,
Or you can wiggle your hands and toes a little bit.
Take a few breaths here resting in your body,
In your divine worthiness.
And as you're ready,
Opening your eyes,
Slowly look around the space you're in.
Just noticing it,
Just becoming present in it.
Noticing the colors and the lighting.
Know that this divine worthiness is with you now as you go into the rest of your day.
And know that that pool is always available for you to revisit.
Thank you for joining me today for this practice.
I hope it was so supportive and nourishing.
Take good care,
Friend.
